Following in the grand tradition of such Irish memoirs as Angela’s Ashes and Are You Somebody?, Liam Clancy relates his life’s story in a raucously funny and star-studded account of moving from provincial Ireland to the bars and clubs of New York City, to the cusp of fame as a member of Tommy Makem and the Clancy Brothers.

Liam Clancy As He Was
Revisado: 02-25-20
This is a must-read or listen for anyone who grew up in the '50s and '60s. This was an era of rock and roll, but it also was a reinvention of the folk era. This is a story that recounts one of the leaders in this resurgence. It tells of a man and his family's travel from Irish actors to their discovery as folk musicians. A very interesting read.

Historia
Change: The Numismatic Odyssey of a Quarter follows a 1963d Quarter for 100 years. If you've ever held an old coin and wondered about its journey, Change offers the story of one of these roads, telling the brutal vaudeville that was late 20th century America. Through large stories and small moments, high comedy and quiet loss, Change reflects not only the chaos of history but the connectedness of small things, and yes, even the nature of evolution itself.

A Quarter On The Move
Revisado: 02-25-20
This is a very interesting and sometimes humorous account of the travel our pocket change experiences. We never give much thought to where those coins in our pocket have been or where they are going. Sometimes those dates are new and sometimes they precede our own existence. This book gives us a glimpse into that travel through time and place that even outlives our own. The narration was well done and added to the appeal of this book. I was provided this book in exchange for a fair review.

Historia
This alternative history novel begins with a mouse trying desperately to follow an ambulance occupied by a VIP being transported into a laboratory/clinic. It's Dec. 16, 1966. The day Walt Disney's body supposedly was placed into cryonic suspension. He faces a momentous decision: a contractual provision requires a review, every five years, to assess whether enough medical advances would be feasible for reanimation. Although absent for 50 years, he has not been forgotten, figuratively or literally.

Unusually Amusing
Revisado: 01-02-20
This was an enjoyable jaunt through some of the historical events that have occurred in the past fifty years. This was the time passage since the death of Walt Disney. He is joined on his journey by Mark Twain. The two view events of importance that neither has seen. This journey is supposed to help Walt make up his mind on whether he wishes to return to life. Fifty years prior Disney entered a cryogenic state, and since his cancer could stand a chance of being treated, he now being brought back to life. I will not reveal the ending. The only negative I can take away from this delightful read is the reminder of one of my own miserable experiences. I happened to get caught in a Disney ride called "Its A Small World" as it broke down stranding us right in the middle. However, the music did not stop. Forty-five minutes later we emerged and it took months to get that tune out of my head. This book has again triggered that musical reminder and I sure hope it goes away soon. I received this book free for a fair and honest review.

Historia
Everyone’s heard of Nostradamus. No one’s heard of Philibert Montmorency. One was a legend. The other, not so much.... A newly discovered Nostradamus prophecy has taken the internet by storm thanks to "The Oblivion Doctrine", a group of online conspiracy theorists. Apparently the end is nigh. And in case anyone’s interested, nigh is definitely a Tuesday. Doctor Ally Oldfield, professor of Medieval Languages, is summoned to Lyon for a second opinion. She’s not happy about it. But then again she’s rarely happy about anything.

Satirical Yet Informative
Revisado: 10-11-19
I have never been a person who even considered anything Nostradamus wrote as being very significant. I am not a person who follows such writings or horoscopes. I did enjoy this book and its approach to bringing satire, fiction, and factual information about Nostradamus and his predictions together. The mixture of storytelling taking place in the 16th century with that of the present day was very amusing. I felt the narration added to the quality of the presentation and was very good. I was given this book free in exchange for an honest and fair review.

This was a delightful adventure of a young girl's journey to fulfill a dream of attending a mystical music school. The audiobook is weaved along the way with some delightful music. I enjoyed the book and I do think it would be a great book for the young reader.

Historia
The lovable man for all ages, who captured America's heart in the #1 best-selling novel Forrest Gump and in the blockbuster film, returns in the long-awaited sequel to the book hailed by Larry King as "the funniest novel I have ever read." A little older, and wiser in his own unique way, he is still running through the kaleidoscopic events of our times -- and straight into the age of greed and instant gratification known as the 1980s.

Father/Son Bonding or Is It?
Revisado: 10-08-19
A delightful story of a middle school student's struggles and frustrations while playing on his father's football team. I found the majority of this book extremely appropriate and realistic. There was one theme that I found hard to believe. Then again, I taught in Wisconsin and things may be different where the authors are referencing. The narration added to the enjoyment of the story and kept things going. I would expect to find this on many a middle school boy's reading list. I was given this book free for an honest and fair review.

A Dream Come True
Revisado: 09-22-19
This is a story of a young boy who longs to play baseball in the local Little League. As dreams go for all youth, this is probably not that unrealistic. I did find this to be an enjoyable read even though much of it would not hold up to what goes on in the "real" world. As a read for pre-teen, this story should be premised with a caution that this is just a story. The narration was good and help keep the attention. I did receive this book free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Olivia Turner's Poor Choices
Revisado: 09-18-19
This was an adventure story designed for the younger ages. I found it interesting with a few factual pieces of information. The main point to be taken from this is not where the adventure took place, but what was done in regards to the safety of youth on these trips. Often times those who are younger lack the information background and experience to make a sound judgment regarding their own safety. It was an adventure book for teens and so much more. I received this book free for a fair and balanced review.

Interesting As A Text
Revisado: 09-03-19
I have been familiar with much of this information for years. This book added to my knowledge and understanding. I do believe that this book would be a very good textbook on methodology as well as a basic understanding of how and why we all express ourselves non-verbally. It certainly added to my knowledge base. I did find the book a little hard to listen to after prolonged time periods. Since it was more textbook, although interesting, I needed to set it aside and come back to it later. The narration was probably more suited for a video presentation. It was quite good. I received this book free for an open and honest review.
