Great Story
Revisado: 04-27-25
I was very pleasantly surprised by this book, the narration was excellent, The story was good without being too much of anything. Sometimes books have too much sex, cursing, or drama to be enjoyable. This was refreshingly balanced with realistic characters, good story and not so twisty that you’re not sure where the author is going. Would definitely read another of her works,

Amazing narration, great story, engaging the entire time, plot twist, enough of the occult, supernatural and religious spirituality to be all encompassing and interesting. Thrilling and unnerving.

Nothing Beats the Original
Revisado: 04-10-25
This one was just ok. The first Ms Wiggins was much more clever and deceptive. The writing in this one seemed too repetitive and the story felt incomplete. The narration was ok but the female voice spoke too much and became annoying because she was just NOT smart but overall it was good to listen on a commute and not be fully invested.

Soft porn read with horrible narrator
Revisado: 02-19-25
This book read like what I would consider a step up from a regular romance if you’re looking to get a little more explicit. The writing was just ok, a lot of raunchy stuff just because. It felt forced and with all the angst I kept expecting a vampire from Twilight to pop out. This was definitely a rated R teen flick not to be aired.

Necessarily Twisted
Revisado: 12-18-24
This was a great listen! I cannot pretend to know why there always seems to be certain elements in her writing that are off putting to me but I enjoyed listening to this. The narrator was perfect, capturing little nuances in the characters voices without it sounding overly anything. The storyline was interesting and kept you engaged, and there were only a few small predictable moment.

Well Damn
Revisado: 06-10-24
This was a brilliantly executed production. If I had read it i likely would have put it down within the first few chapters. It was a hard listen in many ways but you also kept wondering how and even if these relationships would remain intact. I found myself waiting for the other shoe to drop with each new chapter. I wanting to scream so many times or at least reach through the page and slap someone. It was ugly and dark but also powerful in the ways that it explored the various levels of mental illness, trauma, despair, desperation, love and family. The characters were very well developed and the narrator… her voice changes were subtle and perfect. Sometimes it was only her pitch, other times it was her cadence. I actually thought there were two different narrators until I heard the closing credits. It’s not easy to look at the hard things but even when we close our eyes they’re still there. Well done.

This was such a great and heavy little listen. For such a short story it was epic. The author covered so many emotions and so many layers and years in just one brief but agonizing story. The narrator nailed the character and really brought her to life.

I didn’t dislike it but wanted to like it more than I did.
Revisado: 06-02-24
This story could have been much better. It’s a very creative undertaking and I really think it could have been great. Maybe if I had read it, I would feel differently. The final scene was very anticlimactic, so much build up for virtually nothing. But i think narrator struggled to keep the accents in order which made it a little annoying to listen to. She went from calling one character Orlu to Olu and back again. Chichi continued to go from sounding like an old haughty woman to a good girlfriend. They should have used two narrators. With all that said, I absolutely plan to read the next two, I need to know how it all ends.

Too close to home
Revisado: 05-14-24
I gave this four stars only because it hits too close to home! We may be on the verge of this very existence in the nearer future than we’d like to think. The storyline was good, performance great, very thought provoking. I would have given five stars if it wasn’t leaning towards our present scary reality. Art imitating life.
