Historia
In 1985, Edward Shank famously gunned down the Beacon Hill Butcher, ending the serial killer’s reign of terror over the city of Seattle. But now in his eighties, Edward’s action-packed glory days are long behind him. The decorated former Seattle police chief has given up his high-maintenance Victorian home to his grandson Matt for a quiet life at the nearby Sweetbay Village Retirement Residence, where mac-n-cheese Wednesdays have become the highlight of his week.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Wow wow wow
Revisado: 12-26-24
I LOVED this book!! It’s got everything.. a true mystery, a crime, sooo many wait, what???! moments- I was so angry at characters & absolutely loved some of them too. Grandma *hearts*
There was a bit of steamy smut but not enough to put me off the story. There was humor, my style of dry humor. Ahhhh I wish I could erase my memory of this book so I could experience it again for the first time. VERY well done Amy Tintera!!! You have a new fan, I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for me!!
The narration was top notch too! Perfect perfect perfect! All the way around one of my favorite book & audio experiences xoxo

Stephen King's first full-length solo novel since Dreamcatcher, the long-awaited From a Buick 8 is "nearly flawless and one terrific entertainment," says Publishers Weekly. A strange car acts as a conduit between our world and some other...and the boogeyman of this creepy story is our collective fascination with deadly things.

So creepy!!
Revisado: 12-24-24
This is one of my very favorite books, and I listen to it on a regular basis. I love anything that deals with other planets, aliens, and creepy things of that nature.. Stephen King is of course one of my favorite authors just like so many other people on this planet I admire how he creates worlds. Was narrated beautifully, just a really easy book to love all the way around.
The fish part gave my husband a nightmare as we fell asleep listening to it -he was like what the heck were we listening to! ? 😂 Hahaa
Super love this book, I recommend it to anyone Looking For a good book. This book has been rotated twice through our book club.

It was a dark and stormy night when Mary Crane glimpsed the unlit neon sign announcing the vacancy at the Bates Motel. Exhausted, lost, and at the end of her rope, she was eager for a hot shower and a bed for the night. Her room was musty, but clean, and the manager seemed nice, if a little odd.

Interesting book
Revisado: 12-24-24
This was a really interesting look into the mind of someone who grew up in a very unfortunate situation, leading to severe mental problems. I can actually see this happening to someone, which makes it all that much scarier.
Super creepy.. I kinda feel bad for the guy too though.

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Couldn’t love it more
Revisado: 12-24-24
I love how everything tied in to the movie wizard of oz.
I left a very shining review for this book in my book club online, and was shocked that there were so many negative responses.
I listened to this book on audio versus reading it in print, which may have affected my enjoyment. I’m saying that because most people didn’t enjoy the book itself due to the writing style. My husband and I listened to this on a road trip, and both enjoyed it immensely. In fact, having consumed thousands of books in my life, this has got to be top 10 for me.
I love how this book ties in so well with the movie the Wizard of Oz. I love that it’s from the wicked witches perspective, which honestly I’ve never thought about. It explained so much, not only about her, but about a lot of the other characters in the book as well. It was familiar, and masterly written.
I fell in love with so many characters that I’ve never even given thought to. The narration was outstanding as well. This book is a solid 10 out of 10 for me.

In this deeply scary and intensely unnerving debut novel, Jake and a woman known only as "The Girlfriend" are on a drive to visit his parents at their secluded farm. But when Jake leaves "The Girlfriend" stranded at an abandoned high school, what follows is a twisted unraveling of the darkest unease, an exploration into psychological frailty, and an ending as suspenseful as The Usual Suspects and as haunting as Misery.
