Good but for 2 issues
Revisado: 11-08-09
I am not sure if it was a man reading female dialog, but the main female character seemed very stupid and listening to her really got on my nerves. If you can tune her out, the book would be about 3 and 1/2 stars. If it wasn't for the very dark subject matter and charaters, I would have given this 4 stars. If you like spy stories and don't mind depressing subject matter, I think you will like this book. I don't usually read spy genre, but really enjoyed that aspect of this book.

Historia
Convinced that the tomb of the little-known King Tutankhamen lies somewhere in the Valley of the Kings, eminent Egyptologist Radcliffe Emerson and his intrepid wife, Amelia Peabody, seem to have hit a wall. Having been banned forever from the East Valley, Emerson, against Amelia's advice, has tried desperately to persuade Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter to relinquish their digging rights.

My favorite story is one that takes you right there as if you are in the room with the characters. This book is wonderful, the narrator is just right.

Historia
Carson McCullers was all of 23 when she published her first novel, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. She became an overnight literary sensation, and soon such authors as Tennessee Williams were calling her "the greatest prose writer that the South [has] produced." The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter tells an unforgettable tale of moral isolation in a small southern mill town in the 1930s.

depressing
Revisado: 08-17-09
This book is good if you are interested in widening your literary knowledge, but it is pretty sad. I gave up 2/3rds of the way through, needed a break. I do care how it ends, so I will finish it after I have read/listened to something a bit lighter. The narrator is good.

Historia
First published in 1816 and generally considered Jane Austen's finest work, Emma is a humorous portrayal of a heroine whose injudicious interferences in the life of a young parlour-boarder in a neighboring village often lead to substantial mortification. Austen brings to life a myriad of engaging characters as she presents a mixture of social classes as she did in Pride and Prejudice.

If the mother in Sense and Sensibility (one of my favorites) got on your nerves, this book will kill you. This book is 3 or 4 times longer than it should be because it is filled with nonesense conversation. I tried!!

I could not stick with it....
Revisado: 03-19-09
I thought this boring. I am disappointed as it was featured on Audible's main page as recommended by a famous author. It might be better in written form but I think the author reading it in this case is a mistake.

Best of Historical Mysteries
Revisado: 02-07-09
If you are a fan of historical mysteries, and can accept some, (okay a lot) of improbability in your mysteries for the sake of fun, listen to all of this series. NOTE: Make sure the narrator is Barbra Rosenblatt before you download. ALSO - the unabridged aggravate me - maybe they don't you....
These books are so entertaining, fun and an escape from reality.

Historia
The 1895-96 season promises to be an exceptional one for Amelia Peabody, her Egyptologist husband, Emerson, and their precocious eight-year-old son, Ramses. The much-coveted burial chamber of the Black Pyramid is theirs for the digging. But there is a great evil in the wind sweeping through Cairo. The brazen moonlight abduction of Ramses and an expedition subsequently cursed by misfortune and death have alerted Amelia to the presence of a notorious looter of the living and the dead.
