I’m thrilled with this story! I’m normally a slow reader, but i burned through this one! I’ve always loved Holly and was so pleased to have a novel focusing on her!

I was especially thrilled to discover Justine Lupe, the fabulous narrator, has also played Holly in the Mr. Mercedes series, which i now need to watch! Ms. Lupe also plays one of my absolute favorite characters, Astrid Weissman, on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! (Occasionally, after discovering this, I felt I was heading Astrid sort of overlapping Holly—great fun!) She’s the perfect choice for Holly!!!

A funny bit: I recently quit smoking cigarettes again, having picked up the habit during my divorce, after having quit 25 years before. So, being off the smokes for 8-10 months and hearing Holly constantly needing to smoke… but, it made that nicotine desire itch! Luckily, I’ve stuck it out and am still quits with the smokes!

Great work all around, and I’m only sad I read it so quickly! I’ve been reading Mr. King’s work for the majority of my life—around 40 years—and I’m proud to be a Constant and Faithful Reader!!!

Love the love of books!

I work in a public library—it’s a dream job! This book was meant to be read by librarians! It’s an homage to the guardians of books!
It’s also an homage to Nathaniel Hawthorne—I’m going to read all his works!

Better than I’d remembered

I barely remember reading this during high school, and I believe there was much I didn’t understand.
I can see why this is a classic! Not only is the story captivating; but the writing itself is so beautifully poetic, painting a picture that I could see in my mind’s eye!

LOVED everything about this book!!!

I know I'm only 1/2 easy through there year, but I'm already predicting this will be my favourite book of 2021!
I'm so pleased to have pre-ordered this audiobook--it was as though I had Sinead O'connor sitting next to me, telling me about her life.
I've loved Sinead since I first heard of her in the late 80s. I'm thrilled she's stayed true to herself all these years--I truly admire her!!!

Great representation of the time

I'm the same age as the author. I really enjoyed how vividly she described places and clothes and music from the time period she was discussing. These things all had such a deep impact on her as she was growing up, and that meant a lot to me, as those things affected me during my childhood and teen years, as well. I especially loved that she was into the same music as me during her early 20's.

She wrote about her gay father and his eventual demise from AIDS. I do not have gay parents, and I was not a motherless child. I never knew anyone personally who died of AIDS. However, I could still relate to a lot of what she spoke of during that time. In the late 80s and early 90s, AIDS was a huge deal, and if you were on the "wrong" side of it, it could be pretty scary/devastating. I still remember the fear.

Very well written, and as I listened to her reading the audio version, I appreciated that she spoke the French parts so well. I know no French, so she often translated what she was saying.... but regardless, her accent was so beautiful, I appreciated what she was saying even when I didn't understand it!

Offerman and Mullally don't disappoint!

I was going to read the print version of this book, because of the pictures... But the thought of the authors reading it to me was too hard to resist! I made the right decision!

I loved this story, from beginning to end! Bridget cracks me up! I just wanted to blow off life and keep listening. Great story!
I truly enjoyed the marathon, as well. Will look for more items narrated by Ms. Church!
