Epic Story

Where do I begin? The story is amazing. A slow start, and the timeline jumps a bit without immediately telling the reader. I was a bit confused when two years passed and the author seemed to without this information for about two or three chapters. I loved how he gave you a perspective from different characters of the same position within the story. You will see a narrative from Jessica and then see it as Paul. That was an interesting technique to use. Overall, the story starts out kinda boring, but by the time you are a third into the book, you are already searching for the next book.

Now, the narration. The voice actors were great. I love Scott Brick. He narrated The Foundation and was brilliant. The narrator did a wonderful job. Very high praise from me. However, why in the world did the characters voices keep changing??? It was so super confusing. Once I got used to it, I was able to enjoy the book and chuckle every time a characters actor changed. I give this an overall 5 star. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wonderful historical fiction

I have absolutely fallen in love with The Cousin's War novel series. Some are more historical accurate than others, while being entertaining with how this or that may have played out in real time.

Mostly historically correct

I love the historical aspect of the the Cousin's War series. This book and Daughter of the River has stayed mostly true to the War of the Roses.

Slower pace, but a good listen

The pace of the story us slow. It definitely isn't the same as The Big Four or Murder on the Orient Express or Cards on the Table, but it is still a good book with the usual Hercule Poirot twist at the end. **A side note: Chronogically this is the second Poirot book which she wrote in 1923. Her previous book was The Secret Adversary ( the first Tommy and Tuppence book ) in 1922. ** There were times when the story lagged and times when it was a bit confusing, but having read several of Christie's later books I can see her developing Hercule's character. Plus, I never knew how Hastings and his wife, nicknamed Cinderella, met. In later books you hear him reference her, but nothing more. Overall, I give this a 3 star.

Great book, horrible narration

The Foundation series are my first science fiction novels to read and I am so glad I picked those series. Isaac Asimov is an epic storyteller and I the influence his work has had on many modern fantasy and sci-fi novelist.
