Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Narrator and author well matched. Both far below average.
Two opening chapters held promise - went rapidly downhill. Difficult to follow story line, made more difficult by the reading.
I gave up on this one.

Good imagination yet skewed view of Vatican's response to the Jewish plight. Fiction can and does whitewash history, This author's tale is fantasy, Disappointing to those of my generation.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Historia
Never a doubt. Never a mistake. Always for justice. Never for revenge. She's the person you hire when you need something fixed-permanently. With a strict set of criteria, she evaluates every request and chooses only a few. No more than one job per country, per year. She will only step in if it's clear that justice will not be served any other way. Her jobs are completed with skill and precision, and never result in inquiry or police investigation. The Fixer is invisible - and quite deadly.

Which scene was your favorite?
Lydia and Mort's initial confrontation at Deidra's home.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Mort cradling Lydia's wounded body. Superbly narrated.
Any additional comments?
