Historia
Sami Kierce, a young college grad backpacking in Spain with friends, wakes up one morning, covered in blood. There’s a knife in his hand. Beside him, the body of his girlfriend. Anna. Dead. He doesn’t know what happened. His screams drown out his thoughts—and then he runs. Twenty-two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is a new father who’s working off his debts by doing low level surveillance jobs and teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. One evening, he recognizes a familiar face at the back of the classroom. Anna.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 04-02-25
What a great book! I would reread Fool Me Once before starting this one. It has been some time since I read that book and I never got into the Netflix series. So there was a lot I forgot and references I'm sure I missed. But it was great! Highly recommend!

Historia
Growing up on Cape Cod in the 1960s, Liza Rodman was a lonely little girl. During the summers, while her mother worked days in a local motel and danced most nights in the Provincetown bars, her babysitter - the kind, handsome handyman at the motel where her mother worked - took her and her sister on adventures in his truck. He bought them popsicles and together, they visited his “secret garden” in the Truro woods. To Liza, he was one of the few kind, understanding, and safe adults in her life.

Still Unsure…Updated
Revisado: 03-07-25
I’m still unsure how I feel about this book. Parts were good, others meh. I'm not sure what I was expecting when I chose this book, but it definitely wasn’t it. I did like the back and forth between Liza’s childhood and learning about Tony.
Update Spoilers: I have been thinking about this book a lot since I read it. I think my original 3 star review was because I really wanted to know why he did it. And of course he never confessed or admitted to these crimes, so we do not know that. But this book was very good. Telling about Tony's life it seems like they are trying to show there was kind of always something off about him. Maybe more the nature over nurture. But then you have Liza, who was not treated well by her mother and abandoned by her father. And she turned out pretty good. So maybe it's a yin and yang thing or I'm reading too much into it. But it is a good book and I'd recommend it!

Lots of twists!!!
Revisado: 01-18-25
SPOILERS!! First of all…WTF! I don’t know how many times I said this while listening to this book! So many twists and turns. I did start to suspect that Andy wasn’t a good guy when he was talking about Anzo. But didn’t expect Nina to actually be a good person and I didn’t expect Andy to be that much of a monster! It took me awhile to get into the book. I wasn’t until half way through that I really got into the book. Then I couldn’t stop reading.

The story is good…it is interesting most of the time. But Kate bothers me. She is supposed to be this strong detective, but she freezes all the time. First when some jerk tries to solicit her, then when she’s being attacked, and later when she’s being attacked again!!

I wasn’t sure first, because of the music playing in the background. I usually just listen to regular old audio books. So this was different for me. But I did really enjoy it! I could do without some of the music. But what a great story!!

This book is good! I did enjoy it. I think someone who appreciates art, would enjoy this book more. But it was interesting learning how forgeries are made! The story was good, I finished the book in just two days!! Even if you are not an art connoisseur, its still a good book!

Great book!!
Revisado: 01-06-25
You do need to be paying attention at the beginning. It starts iff telling about each of the six characters and if you are not paying attention it could get confusing. But then once you are familiar with the characters it gets very interesting!! None of these people have much in common except this storage building and they are using their storage units very differently than you would ever assume. I did not seem some of the twists coming!
My only complaint is, it seemed like it was wrapped up too quickly. I would have loved to learn what exactly happened to Serg. And more about what Zach does next!

I did like this book. I was on Alexander’s side until the end. But I don’t really get why this is part of the Joe Talberts series. He’s not in the book at all.
