Surprisingly Deep Saga

A Surprisingly deep Saga, with two completely worlds colliding; the world of the new weed silicon valley and the world of the Russian Mafia. Among the important lessons is that the desire to be a success in life can often be the underlying motivation of becoming a crime kingpin. It is the background motivation for all of our actions.
Besides the zany humor there is much deep soul searching taking place by both of the main characters, Andre and Chase, as they recall the effects of their upbringing on their respective life perspectives...
Unexpected Twists and turns abound, and the ending sends all of the main characters in different directions to pursue other goals.

I really enjoyed the remarkable comedy drama, of how a young professional brings to the Washington Heights neighborhood skill in talk therapy, but no one seems to appreciate it.
It is a typical clash of cultures, or to be more specific opposite cultures, when Michelle tries to bring her Ivy League education, and Connecticut experience back to the “hood” that she feels herself to be more of a part of.
The laughs kept coming, while the listener gets immersed into the culture of Spanish speaking Latinos, and those from the Dominican Republic. Things are very different here, and Michelle struggles to maintain her own mental health while she struggles to get even a small handful of clients.
Highly entertaining, educational, and heartfelt story, and I really appreciated the comedy element as well.

The core story is of Fabian from Montreal that starts a streaming site for adult video, and upends an entire industry.
From a moral standpoint, this is a bleak tale of degeneration of society. People were broken because of technology, but people have always been broken this way...
The production was developed and worked on very intensely for around a years time, and there are many lessons to be gained. Almost none of the stories are happy stories.
Ron Jonson does a very thorough job looking at the effects from many different angles, and there is much to be learned of the way things work behind the scenes.
A good story, an entertaining listen...

Words of a Thinking Man...

These are the words of a thinking man. Of a man that still knows how to think. Words of wisdom.
Of all the rules that we are confronted with throughout our lives, the only ones that really count are the rules that we make for ourselves. The rules that we have learned the hard way. These are the rules that we know work for us.
It is so rare to find someone that truly knows how to think for himself. Dr. Peterson is extremely well read, and there is no doubt that he could have continued talking for another 12 hours by the time the book was done...
One surprising thing was that Dr. Peterson is known for being a true blue conservative, especially since joining the Daily Wire with Ben Shapiro. That may be the case, but it did not show through in the pages of this book. Topics are approached in the most objective manner I could have imagined without dragging in a preconceived ideology.
The best parts are the parts where you can hear the author become emotional about the meaning of life, creating additional value to the subject. These are topics that he feels a deep connection to...
Must be consumed in small doses. I could read it only at 1.2 speed, and only 1 hour per day, before becoming overwhelmed.

Cute, nerdy story. Is this for young adults?

Not too many books these days that don’t have lots of cursing, and aggressive action. Was this written for young adults? The core of the story is that Hannah gets dumped right before she is supposed to get married, and she has to find something to do with the hall reservation.
It seemed that she spent her life being focused on herself and her wedding and not at all on her future husband... He barely made it into the scene at all.
Another couple needs an earlier wedding, so Hanna graciously gives over her wedding to the other couple.
A few questions... Why exactly is she paying for everything... is her husband a complete Dud?
The fact that she was able to get this other couple an earlier wedding, why does it necessitate that the wedding is given away for free... the other couple doesn’t seem so poor.
Anyway, pretty silly story overall, but has a decent ending... and characters are well developed.

Zany adventures, couldn't stop laughing

In this zany production, we follow the adventures of Paula, who, like all of us is just a wee bit insane. She has a tendency of getting carried away with things, and when she meets up with Victor, well, the inevitable is going to just happen.
But who is this Victor anyway. He seems too good to be true. We find out later on that he is the “last magician” with a large cult following. Is he going to marry Paula? Well it looks like that he already did, before he knew what had hit him. But now is where the real adventure begins. How does he get out of it.
Highly entertaining, and engaging, it ends with a cliffhanger, as Victor travels back and is holding Paula’s mother hostage in Connecticut. Can’t wait to hear how this one ends...

Completely Amoral, but some good acting.

I am always amazed by how many people are involved in one of these book productions. At the credits, there seemed to be about 30 names mentioned. That’s a lot of people for one Audio production.
The production is an amoral demonstration, of people gone very off the rails of decency. There is no redeeming factor, or moral individual. All are bad. All are decrepit. I’m not sure where to start, the fact that the police are led totally astray, is nothing new, as they are usually clueless to the true perpetrators. Here is an example of where the main protagonist does everything possible wrong, and does so knowingly and for the wrong reasons. Her crimes become known to multiple people, yet she still manages to get away with it. I am not sure how the outcome could have been worse for all sides...
The acting, as well as the sound effects are outstanding, though. As well as the ability to give sound to a heartbeat, or even to stimulation. I would not listen to this again.

It is a wonderful experience listening to Douglas Murray. The way I see it, is that listening to a book of his saves a person from having to listen to hundreds of hours of other “news”. The book gives a broad look to the cultural shifts that are taking place. Done in a humorous fashion, it points to the greatest oddities of what is going on in the US and other western countries.
The events reported is a slower version of the communist revolution of China, that spent a few years of large gangs of youth that sought out to destroy everything of the “old” and thereby hasten the introduction of communism into the country. This is not about improving, this is about bringing down the current structure.
Living in an insulated culture, I don’t have the chance to see any of this battle taking place around me. There is exactly zero discussion of race or racial equity. There are barely any blacks at all where I live. There are very many hispanics, and the vast majority of them are employed in local homes and businesses.
I am looking forward to the next installment of this ongoing adventure, and then will purchase that volume as well.

I actually enjoyed this performance. It managed to hold my interest throughout which counts for a lot. The theme of this book is very similar to “Little Fires Everywhere”, and it was clearly borrowing some of the themes from that Hulu production. Even the music was almost identical.
This was made for high school kids, and is trying to instill in them a feeling of how unfair the world is... Equity and not equality, and this is what we are finding all around us, and it really annoys me. In one of the scenes, Sana the “hero” gleefully steals something from a landowner and says “well it serves them right, and isn’t it great that I steal from them and get away with it”, that’s disgusting, but this is what is surrounding us, so who am I to complain. It was entertaining, it did contain mystery and suspense, and it was overall a high end production.

On the Road to a Successful Sales Career

Zig Ziglar is a great inspiration for anyone that seeks to make for themselves a successful career in Sales. The Audio Version is over 20 hours of Marathon listening, and I can say that I enjoyed it all. The lessons are interspersed with a bounty of real life stories, and sales situations told over with great entertainment.
I especially liked the section that gives us a real appreciation of the pride of the sales professional, showing how sales is a necessary ingredient in any prosperous society.
There is really so much to learn about the sales game, and especially the closing process. Core attitudes are not ignored either, always focusing on improving the “person” before trying to improve the “salesperson”.
This is an audio series that will be my long term accompaniment as I continue to pursue success and especially job satisfaction in my sales efforts.
