Historia
Fifteen-year-old Cam Reynolds wants to spend his sophomore year flying under the radar. That shouldn’t be too hard, considering he’s a human going to school with kids who have paranormal powers, like his best friend and witch, Al, and his longtime werewolf crush, Mateo. Then Cam has a psychic glimpse of the future in front of most of the student body, seeing a gruesomely murdered teen girl from the point of view of the killer. When Cam comes to, he knows two things: someone he goes to school with is a future murderer, and his life is about to change.

A Paranormal Mystery for Everyone
Revisado: 05-01-25
As a long time fan of F.T Lukens work, I was very quick to pre-order this audiobook. And wow, I almost loved this one as much as Spellbound!
Ther Narrator did an amazing job bringing the humor and emotion into the characters, and the story was so unique and colorful with a main character who never wanted to be the main character suddenly finding himself the center of his town's magical community.
Top that with a mystery involving a murder? I kept being thrown for a loop even when I thought I'd figured it out! And Lukens has never disappointed with the awesome cast of side characters they write. Definitely worth the listen!

Historia
Arthur Parnassus lives a good life built on the ashes of a bad one. He’s the headmaster of a strange orphanage on a distant and peculiar island, and he hopes to soon be the adoptive father to the six dangerous and magical children who live there. Arthur works hard and loves with his whole heart so none of the children ever feel the neglect and pain that he once felt as an orphan on that very same island so long ago. He is not alone: joining him is the love of his life, Linus Baker, a former caseworker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth.

The Anti-Rowling of Magical Storiytelling
Revisado: 09-11-24
The House by the Cerulean Sea was the building of a foundation constructed by love and found family. Somewhere Beyond the Sea carries over all the mischievous and funny happenings of the first, while also tackling the consequences of prejudice and trauma. Despite the first books cozy and lovely ending, it was hard to ignore the bubbling foreboding that the world these wonderful children inhabit would not be kind to them.
I've always admired T.J. Klune's ability to write a good villian. Because the worst kidney of monster is not that with teeth, but the hatred and fear that the real world fosters. In Somewhere Beyond the Sea, expect to cry and rage at the injustice of it all, but find comfort in the love and hope that live in the children of the Baker-Parnassus family. Because hope is a thing with wings.

Historia
Seventeen-year-old Ellery is a non-believer in a region where people swear the supernatural is real. Sure, they’ve been stuck in a five-year winter, but there’s got to be a scientific explanation. If goddesses were real, they wouldn’t abandon their charges like this, leaving farmers like Ellery’s family to scrape by.

Another top shelf listen
Revisado: 04-08-24
Lukens ability to weave a tale filled with bright quirky characters alongside a nail biting storyline had me enraptured the entire time.
Elloty's struggles with shouldering familial duty while also grieving their lost childhood is a very real aspect some people live with. Knox's endeavor to live a human life and getting to experience how it felt to be truly cared for the first time was written beautifully. I had this book on my wishlist since the release date was announced and I knew going in that like any Lukens book, I would have never been able to predict how the story would unfold.
I'd recommend this book to fans of Percy Jackson and Lukens other book, Spellbound. The mix of traditional magic and Greek mythology felt wonderfully intertwined. Definitely adding this to my favorites shelf

Historia
In the wake of the Kejari, everything Oraya once thought to be true has been destroyed. A prisoner in her own kingdom, grieving the only family she ever had, and reeling from a gutting betrayal, she no longer even knows the truth of her own blood. She’s left only with one certainty: she cannot trust anyone, least of all Raihn. The House of Night, too, is surrounded by enemies. Raihn’s own nobles are none too eager to accept a Turned king, especially one who was once a slave. And the House of Blood digs its claws into the kingdom, threatening to tear it apart from the inside.

Just as darkly intriguing and entrancing as Book 1
Revisado: 10-26-23
I was really looking forward to this audiobook, though I did try to read the text version, I have to say there is just something to be said about how emotive and expressive these voice actors are. They really brought alive the characters. From Oraya's stubbornness and complicated feelings of all that occurred after the trials, to Rhain's struggle to rule in a castle that holds the worst of his nightmarish memories, the actors brought it all alive.
My favorite aspects of this sequel: (SPOILERS!!!!)
✨️ I have always hated the trope that once burned the heroine forgives the guy quickly and they live happily ever after. so this was refreshing. Oraya didn't forgive Rhain easily which results in top-tier groveling
✨️ There may be a lot of political aspects in this world but it doesn't take away from the true nature of the vampires that inhabit it. One of the most interesting new characters for me was her cousin. Girl is loony 👀
✨️ A lot of people may claim this to be a romance fantasy book but I'd have to say is very well distributed between actual plot and the romance of the two main characters. Yes there's spice (good spice I may add 👌) but there's also alot of emotional growth that's interspersed with action, gore, and adventure.
🚩 One thing I just have to say is the male voice actor's pronunciation of certain words and names is inconsistent with the female narrator's. It didn't affect my listening experience but it just grated on me when I noticed.
