This broke my heart, relieved me and pissed me off all at once.
Still hoping there will be one more book though bc Penn Cage is ‘unputdownable’. Mr. Iles is on the money. But where do we go from here?

What kind of ending is this??
Revisado: 10-24-24
I loved the whole story, it was suspenseful, and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through the very last chapter…and then??? I know authors are sometimes fond of letting the reader use their imagination, I prefer closure, but even so, this book is worth the read.
****UPDATE**** THERE IS A SECOND BOOK....Audible just doesn't have it yet...THIS BLOOD RUNS. Can't wait to read it.

Historia
What if you could travel back in time 100 years and right the wrongs of the past—would you take the risk? “Sundown: A Time Travel Society Mystery” is a wildly imaginative podcast from Michael Dante DiMartino, the co-creator of the animated classics “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra.” “Sundown” explores the story of a group of teens who go back into the past and uncover secrets about themselves, their families, their town—and America. 17-year-old Darius Hightower (played by Emmy-nominated actor Asante Blackk of “When They See Us”) is just about the only Black person in his small New England town of Norhaven. Adopted by a wealthy white family when he was a baby, Darius has learned to keep his head down and not challenge his family or its history. But when the outspoken Sanaa Starr (played by NAACP Image Award-winner Storm Reid of “Euphoria”) transfers to his high school and starts asking questions, Darius re-examines the truth about his ancestors’ involvement in the town’s most infamous murder. A time capsule from 1920 may hold some clues, but when Norhaven’s most powerful conspire to destroy its contents, it’s up to Darius, Sanaa, and their friends (including “Reservation Dogs” star Devery Jacobs) to investigate what really happened. After a strange incident sends them back 100 years to the scene of the crime, their fact-finding mission becomes life-or-death. Forced to confront their town’s prejudiced past, the teens race against time in order save an innocent man’s life and clear his name. “Sundown” is a sci-fi mystery adventure like you’ve never heard before.

We have to know our history, real history, so we do not repeat it. Covering up the past does not help anyone heal.

How in the Goddess’s name did I get stuck at the Witchypoo Convention at Rump Arena in Hexington, Kentucky? Whoops...my bad. Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. Whatever. It’s like one cavernous indoor garage sale of “magic” crap. It’s nothing more than a convention of human wanna-be witches in pointy ankle boots and half-price black hats...Baba Yopaininmybutt sent me to root out the very evil shenanigans going down in the sea of faux witches, mummies, and vamps...Listen to find out more!

Revisado: 05-11-22
I didn't like the view the author took on Voodoo. It is not bad or evil. Not to mention there aren't any obviously Black characters in this series except for Fate and she made her seem crazy and she hasn't been in the series except for once so far. Anyway I usually love this author, but this time I was slightly offended. (Not that it means much these days...)

predictable order of events
Revisado: 11-10-21
I really enjoyed the different actors narration, I was, however, disappointed that I could guess who the finger would be pointed at no matter how many interesting twists were involved in the story. Trying not to give too much away, just sad to see no matter how much change is made, some people's minds still work the same.

At least learn to pronounce the words correctly...
Revisado: 06-09-21
Usually the narrators know how to at least say beignet(been-yay) when narrating a book based in Louisiana, that should be important to the author. Liked the story, the delivery could have been better.

Historia
For Olivia Taylor-Jones, Matilda isn’t just a legendary figure from Welsh lore. She is Olivia’s past and her future - one she’s finally embraced. Having accepted her role as Matilda, Olivia must now lead her first Hunt. Seems simple enough. But when she questions their target’s guilt, the Hunt is halted, and her mission has failed. Still, it’s just a matter of getting Gabriel’s help and investigating the man’s past to reassure herself that he’s guilty. He must be. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be a target.

this was a very honest look at southern social structure. I am intrigued by Cage's story, and am looking forward to much more. As a NOLA girl, I hope he (Cage)might see if he can get into trouble a little further south.
