An utterly, confusing and completely terrible follow-up.

Wait? What? Happened? If you, like me, thought that "I am Pilgrim" was a competent (if slightly unnecessarily long) spy thriller, and you're somehow hoping for more of the same.
This will have you pulling out your hair in confusion and frustration. So many directions this could have been taken, but mixing a terrible time travel sci fi plot. (think all clichés in pop culture) with the most unimaginative alien invasion and fan fiction predictability is what you're getting. What a mess. The most interesting story is finding out what happened in the process of writing this mess.

Very weak ending. Teleportation and multidimensional traveling saves the day. Zero explanations of course.

I struggled to start this one. Rather than one coherent story, we get POV from various characters. Those POV do seem rather disjointed and joining the various story lines at the end became a rush job. It's extremely well written and performed. Break and unpleasant with explicit torture scenes. Overall a worthy end to the trilogy.

Argh. Ray Porter is stellar as usual. He keeps the show going. This is very loosely tied in with 14 and The Fold, both superior books. You got the zombies from ex-heroes and a whole host of meh characters. To be honest I often struggled with telling who was who. Some of the more interesting ones gets killed off quickly or in the preocess of being fleshed out. Lots of descriptions of zombie clothing and such. One thing Clines absolutely nails is the low gravity of the moon. The term Sky whale / squid is mentioned....and of course it's a nod to the previous books. This left me wanting to know more about.... Ok... Let's just call it Chtulu... But all you get it's a prologue and an epilogue of 2 minutes each. This might be a set up for the future.... The Outcast has left the path...

This is my third time through red rising. Very few audio books get a third listen. Wow. What a trip, what a journey...

This is a fast-paced, and exciting adventure in a very unique setting. The most interesting part is the subtle world building, the apocalyptic past, that veils the present in mystery. I going for book two!

Firstly, Ray Porter is excellent! Just like the Bobbi verse books this deals with AI in a very superficial and run of the mill way. I had a hard time getting through it. The first third of the book is good, as soon as the big reveal comes, it's all down hill from there.

Narration is really great. It's not often an author does a good job of narrating, but this is spot on. It's a very enjoyable beach listen, but the plot twist at the end is something you see coming a mile away. Normally, that's fine. In this case however, there is no plausible reason why the twist should or even could happen. A poor attempt is given, but it feels very plastered on. Enjoyable though. Setup for a sequel possible.

Ray Porter is amazing. Get it for him. This is a story of pure vengeance. Not for me. Maybe for you?

I completely love the Ex-Heroes series from Peter Clines. He has got a fantastic ability to build universes with characters that relatable and sucks you in. The superheroes meet zombies at the end of the world? Sign me up for six helpings of that, please. The cosmic horrors lurking just at the edge of our universe and perception as seen in "14" and "The Fold"? Oh yes.

Expectations were high then I downloaded "Paradox Bound" After the great set-ups from "14" and "The Fold," I thought we were in for another treat of slow-creeping, mysterious, cosmic horror homage to Lovecraft.

Sorely disappointed was I to find that "Paradox Bound" is (yet another) story about time travel - the ultimate author cop-out. Don't like what just happened? Oh, just take the time travelling car to another time in history. Anything goes with time travel. BTW don't spend your time on Dark Matter either, which is so overhyped.

With the clumsy metaphor of the American dream as the ultimate MacGuffin, our two heroes travel the roads and railways (literally) of the multiverse searching for the American dream that has been lost, stolen or hidden. The (anti) climactic plot twisty-doo at the end fizzled out like a time travelling cherry coke from the 50s.

It's hard to connect with the two main characters, and instead of wanting to get to know them more, I wanted to get deeper into the mythological backdrop of the book. Never happened.

Granted PC manages to establish a reasonably exciting mythology around it all - but the story is ultimately flat and stumbles over efforts trying to be clever. (PS James Dean lives!)

I was desperately waiting for the faceless men to become part of the horrific apocalyptic backstory universe seen in his previous books - but nope. There was ONE, UNO reference to the cosmic horror arc PC has established earlier - perhaps there were more?

I fell asleep so many times during the ordeal of listening that I might have missed it?

Do you want a hefty helping of Cline? Get 14, The Fold or the Ex-heroes series.

Ultimately, Paradox Bound never engaged me enough to care about the characters and the lost, stolen or perhaps hidden American dream.
