Suspensefull and Entertaining
Revisado: 05-20-23
This is the first “Jim West” story I have read or listened to. Jim is a calm, laid-back, nice guy character. It seems that murder and trouble are drawn to him. He has hidden skills that help him stay safe and solve murders. The book is well written, and the author weaves all the scenes together.
The narrator does a nice job, and he has a calm voice to match the Jim West character. He is easy to listen to, has a good pace, and differentiates from character to character. He has a good style for female voices, as they are not over-the-top.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to more books by Bob Doerr and listening to more books by Mike Steele.

Historia
Walker has just lost his job, his wife has filed for divorce, and he’s living in a tent down by the river. Being ever-resourceful, Walker swaps his truck for a motorhome (a.k.a. "the Love Bus"), and agrees to drive it cross-country to sleepy Englewood, Florida, so he can deliver a cat named Mango Bob to a woman he's never met. Should be easy, right? Drive to Florida, hand over the cat, and then hang out on the beach. Except there’s an unsolved murder involving the Love Bus, the Mexican mafia, and a half million in missing gold coins.

Feel-good, PG rated, story!
Revisado: 09-17-22
I recently began listening to audible books and just finished Mango Bob by Bill H. Myers and narrated by Mike Steele. In today’s world of violence, foul language, and explicit sex, this was quite refreshing! It is definitely family-friendly, rated PG. My 11-year-old niece can’t wait for Book 2 to come out on Audible!
The main character is John Walker, a mild-mannered man, who finds himself without a job, divorced, and no place to live. At first, he lives in a tent on the river, then he buys an RV from his former employer and goes on an adventure to Florida (from Arkansas) to deliver a cat, Mango Bob, to a friend’s sister. It does take a while to get into the story.
Walker gets drawn into a mystery that involves his new RV, and he meets people along the way who help him get out of trouble. It is a feel-good story and a fun listen!
Mike Steele does a great job of narrating. He has good timing, is engaging, breathes life into the characters, and is a gifted storyteller.

Entertaining story!
Revisado: 06-20-22
I enjoyed the story, which had many twists and turns. There was intrigue, humor, suspense, and romance. The author’s descriptions enable the reader to picture the scenes, as if watching a movie. Mysteries are my favorite genre, and I was able to figure out some of the plot, but not all of it! The narrator has a voice that is easy to listen to, he brings the unique characters to life, and he has impeccable timing for the humorous lines – great job!

Historia
Hidden Behind the Robe is a tapestry of stranger-than-fiction scenes, observed over Matt Graham’s 43-year career in the criminal justice system. The story traverses the unexplored and overlooked inner workings of the raunchy, salacious, often hilarious, behind-the-scenes happenings of Los Angeles justice. Combining issues of privilege, race, and sexual misconduct, Hidden Behind the Robe provides a raw, behind-the-scenes perspective, and insight into the legal system that could only have been written by a Judge who has seen it all.

Great book!
Revisado: 04-02-22
This is author Matt Graham’s first book, and it is a mystery thriller, which is my favorite genre. The main character is Judge Charles Dunning in Los Angeles. There are twists and turns to the plot that keep the listener engaged and trying to figure out what is coming next. Some of the courtroom cases are shocking, some are entertaining, and some are downright hilarious! I hope the author is planning to write more stories about Judge Dunning. The narrator, Mike Steele, is easy to listen to, has a calming voice most of the time, adds feelings to the characters as needed, and uses a good tempo. I definitely recommend this book!
