Historia
Mead House was once our childhood home. Despite my fears, I always knew we would have to return to face the demons of our past. Back to the place where it happened, to where, as carefree teenagers, we lost our elder sister in the most brutal of circumstances. As executors of our grandmother’s will, my twin brother, Ollie, and I needed to empty the house for resale. What I didn’t expect to discover was my sister’s secret journal that contained her most private thoughts and shocking dark secrets.

Drawn out story line with multiple players
Revisado: 04-11-25
The narrator did a great job. Voices for different characters, tone, setting mood, etc.
But the writing….so high school-ish.
Would not recommend.

Historia
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Never knowing who did it and not being able to solve it early on kept me coming back.
The narration was great. The writing was fabulous.
Just right!

Historia
Minnesota, 1977. For the teens of one close-knit community, summer means late-night swimming parties at the quarry, the county fair, and venturing into the tunnels beneath the city. But for two best friends, it’s not all fun and games. Heather and Brenda have a secret. Something they saw in the dark. Something they can’t forget. They’ve decided to never tell a soul. But their vow is tested when their friend disappears—the second girl to vanish in a week. And yet the authorities are reluctant to investigate.

One of the best I’ve heard in a while
Revisado: 05-23-23
This story keeps you engaged the entire time. It is often hard to stop listening when I have to do some thing else, when I would rather stay listening to the story. If I had had the book in front of me, it would’ve been a page turner that I could not have put down. I would’ve stayed up all night reading! The narrator was phenomenal, putting a face on each character with her voice. From start to finish this is a fabulous story. Fabulous in the sense that it is well written, well narrated with well developed characters. It is a tragedy that it is based on true events. No one ever wants to experience this in their hometown. But I thank the author for bringing the story to life in a way that honors the people who lived through this.

Historia
People with borderline or narcissistic personality disorders have a serious mental illness that primarily affects their intimate, personal, and family relationships. Often they appear to be normally functioning at work and in public interactions, and narcissists may even be highly effective, in the short term, in some work or social situations. However, in intimate relationships, they can be emotional, aggressive, demeaning, illogical, paranoid, accusing, and controlling - in the extreme.

What I needed
Revisado: 01-28-23
I didn’t realize I was living with a BP/NP until a few years ago. This book has helped me navigate turning my life around so I am no longer the caretaker or the victim. I have shared this book with another friend who is also in this situation in a much worse state than I.
