what a crap ending
Revisado: 07-02-18
The book is pretty good, you're drawn in and there's just enough suspense/drama you want to keep listening, then the ending is awful, very abrupt.
I liked the character so I just wanted so many different stories for her than what happens.
Great reader, Jennifer Ehle has a wonderful voice.

Historia
Serengard has been under Orion rule for centuries - centuries of insufferable adherence to laws and traditions that its people no longer believe in. Raised by her scholarly grandfather in the fiery southern city of Neroi, Trzl is dedicated to turning the monarchy into a free society where knowledge is king and no one has to be subject to the whims of an Orion. As the rebellion escalates, her choices have an eerie impact on the revolution at large, elevating her to a position of influence she has only dreamed of attaining.

decent book, nice reader
Revisado: 05-12-18
The book was ok. It started kind of slow and I zoned out while listening quite a bit. But it picked up and I kind of want to know what happens to the characters, but the next book isn't on Audible.
I really liked the reader, very calm and clear voice. I hope to hear more by her. Actually as I listened I kept wishing that Darci Cole would have been the reader for Matched... I know that's weird, but I've always thought that reader was a bad fit for those books and always try to pair someone new to them and I think Ms. Cole would be it. (I know, I'm off subject)

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. spoiler alert
Revisado: 09-29-17
The story is pretty good, as we continue on with the saga of reds and silvers. I don't love that the different readers don't do accents. Only the reader for Mare does them, so lakelanders don't have an accent with the other readers, and all the readers have little variation between character voices, hard to follow conversations at times.
That said, I'm so bugged with how this book ended! I'm invested in this series and I have liked Mare up until the end of this book. She was just portrayed to be totally selfish! Choose me, choose me, choose me... but I won't choose you, or us even though it's what I want more than anything in the world (obviously untrue). I was literally yelling at my car stereo when the book ended, I was so mad. I don't even want to read the final book, but I so want Mare to redeem herself.

Historia

Great imagery.
Revisado: 05-26-17
I like the authors use of words to create a scene or feeling. Except the big fight scene, that was hard to follow along while listening. Maybe that's clearer for readers, or maybe I just don't love those parts of books and start to tune out then get confused! 😄

great readers

I really enjoyed the condensed versions of these stories. It was really fun listening to the different readers. My 9 year old daughter even enjoyed Northanger Abby with me!

Historia
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials - engineered organic beings identical to humans - has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Laugh out loud ridiculous.
Revisado: 07-04-16
I struggled to finish this. The 16 yr old main character makes stupid decisions repeatedly, all while gaining respect from peers and adults. There are some unseen twists towards the end, which is good. You have to get through the ridiculous bits to get the exciting end though. My husband and I really did laugh out loud at a couple of points in the story because they were so ridiculously stupid. Overall, the story idea is great, but the execution isn't great. I would not recommend this book.
