Diving Catch, as though in a make-up football game
Revisado: 04-15-23
At the finish it occurred to me the book was like a ragtag, spontaneous, make-up football game. An offensive receiver told to, "go long," running with all they have, winded, the receiver looks up to see the ball dropping but to catch it has to dive forward with outstretched finger tips. Christianity requires a leap of faith in believing, trusting, and obeyding in the saviour's call--He does not disappoint!

Historia
Forgiving anyone in a meaningful way is one of the hardest things a person has to do. If you do not, resentment and vengeance begin to consume you. It is nearly impossible to move past transgression without forgiveness, but few people have the resources and the tools to forgive others fully and move on with their lives.

God loves us and thus corrects us
Revisado: 03-19-23
Forgiveness is a test of ones faith, certainly not easy yet absolutely nessacary. Keller gives instruction, what is need to know to be courageous and take the steps to forgive those who have wronged us and how to confront the person in a loving manner. The material also gives insight into how one who confronted responds, if done correctly both parties benefit. I gained perspective that actually eliminated guilt in an effort to confront that was not received well.

Historia
The greatest promise ever given to the human race came from the lips of our Redeemer when Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me...I go to prepare a place for you...I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:1-3). Just after his 95th birthday, Mr. Graham proclaimed with resolve, "When I die, tell others that I've gone to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - that's where I am."

A good listen overall. the gospel presented through scripture and personal experience. The suggestions on ways to atone for ones pasts misgivings were interesting though lacked suggestions on how to overcome past transgressions in relationships when unable to find the ones you hurt to ask for forgiveness.

Historia
Stephen A. Macchia seeks to upend the one-eyed and limited Christian understandings of spiritual discernment and invite listeners and leaders to reconsider how they prioritize the care of their souls, the grace of their communities, and the mission of their lives, churches, and organizations. When we have a fuller understanding of how spiritual discernment matters to the whole of our lives, we will in turn encourage others to follow likewise and then lean fully into the mission, mandate, and message of the whole counsel of God.

Midway through I struggled with author's ideology. I look to the Rev Keith Mannes for truth, who unlike the author's resume, stood up for biblical truths through acting in opposition to the political Red blackened moral record and bent character.

Recovering Our Sanity is not another self-help book about how to beat your daily fears for a better life. It's a book that will show you the gravity and glory of a God who's worthy of our fear. It’s a book that will reveal how these two biblical phrases - Fear God and Do Not Be Afraid - are not contradictory but actually one coherent message.

Provides a path forward when stuck in the muck
Revisado: 11-05-22
The staccato pace of the trunticated chapters that jump from one expression of instruction to another was at first annoying. Sticking with it though was well worth it, I learned some positive ways to return my focus to scripture and most importantly to God.

Historia
In Try Softer, you'll learn how to: know and set emotional and relational boundaries; make sense of the difficult experiences you've had; identify your attachment style-and how that affects your relationships today; move through emotions rather than get stuck by them; and grow in self-compassion and talk back to your inner critic. Trying softer is sacred work. And while it won't be perfect or easy, it will be worth it. Because this is what we were made for: a living, breathing, moving, feeling, connected, beautifully incarnational life.

Historia
Our emotions are complex. Some of us seem able to ignore our feelings, while others feel controlled by them. But most of us would admit that we don’t always know what to do with how we feel. The Bible teaches us that our emotions are an indispensable part of what makes us human―and play a crucial role in our relationships with God and others. Exploring how God designed emotions for our good, this book shows us how to properly engage with our emotions.

Excellent prose on explaining emotions their impact and necessity for us as humans and how God doesn't want us to deny our emotions but rather is glorified by our emotions as revealed in worship. A must read.

Historia
"Talk" seems so normal, so ordinary, so harmless. Yet there are few things we do that are more important. And underneath the normality of it all is a great struggle, a war of words that we fight every day. Who hasn't been hurt by the words of another? Who hasn't regretted something they said? Recognizing that words are powerful, Paul Tripp shows us how the gospel transforms the way we communicate. Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word is the only hope for our words. In our war of words, he is the one who gives us the victory.

Patience and understanding I got through the book
Revisado: 10-01-22
Unfortunately, I found the book to be lacking the instruction I was looking for. The example of struggles in communicating with wife and particularly the Son, though a husband and father myself, failed to put forth skills needed to communicate with love to desculate the drama and bring about a heart felt reconciliation.
Naration tended to drone on thus the story lost my interest making listening more of a chore.
