8 hours and no resolution.
Revisado: 01-11-25
8 full hours of struggling to hear garbled, non-sensical, recordings with no resolution at the end.
The best part was getting the cold case unit in RI. Super commendable but that’s what this really is about.
The mother’s murder story is an endless loop of circles that go nowhere.
That’s what this should be titled. “How I changed the law in RI”. We didn’t need 8 hrs to get there.

Just like RuPaul to share his beautiful insights selfishly and openly through this journey.
Can’t possibly say enough about how much we need this right now.
Thank you, Mother. ♥️

3 hours in and zero reason to keep going for another FIFTEEN!
I wish I could be more forthcoming but I honestly don’t know what else to say. Characters boring and zero story.

Historia

Twenty-five-year-old Kat has never known a place where she felt truly at home, and crumbling Shelley House is no different. Her neighbors find her prickly and unapproachable, but beneath her tough exterior, Kat’s plagued by a guilty secret from her past.

Historia
When Tony Hathaway was arrested outside a Seattle bank in February 2014, it brought an end to one of the most prolific bank robbery streaks in American history. Hathaway robbed 30 banks in a single year, all within a 30-mile radius of his suburban home. But that’s not the most surprising part of this story. Before Hathaway was a masterful bank robber—a shape-shifting professional who confounded multiple police departments and the FBI—he was a top design engineer at Boeing, one of America’s most important companies. Hathaway traveled the world in business class, working on the 747, ...

Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.

SERIOUSLY questioning the reviews
Revisado: 04-28-23
I have a very serious concern about the validity of the good reviews of this book. This is nothing more than an account of the most vile, despicable behavior ever perpetrated by multiple individuals. I see absolutely no other value in this story other than sadism porn.
I also question the validity of the entire story itself. Not a single human being in their periphery, in their lives anywhere did anything whatsoever to intervene? I’m sorry, but I call BS. I am a social worker, I do know the nature of predatory abuse, and how perpetrators can put others under their thumb, but every one of these people had others in their lives, that also completely failed them, and I find it hard to believe that no one at all saw what was going on. I mean there were bloody people, multiple people, with bruises and cuts and everything! Not a single person anywhere saw this? Again I call BS.
I am an absolute true crime junkie, but this is not that. Again, this is a recounting of vile, sadistic behavior, and nothing more. I am pretty let down that I got this book off of a New York Times list and didn’t bother to read the other reviews before I dove into it. I guess that’s not the trusted source it used to be. At least for me it isn’t. Enjoy if you’re into that thing.

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Gage Chandler is descended from kings. That’s what his mother always told him. Years later, he is a true crime writer, with one grisly success—and a movie adaptation—to his name, along with a series of subsequent less notable efforts. But now he is being offered the chance for the big break: to move into the house where a pair of briefly notorious murders occurred, apparently the work of disaffected teens during the Satanic Panic of the 1980s.

Just couldn’t follow this. At all. Returning it.
Revisado: 02-09-22
The story seems to hop all over the place and the narration, with the pauses every two to three words made it impossible to follow. Every sentence is broken up into at least 3 with all the pausing before the next word. Honestly it was excruciating. Couldn’t even finish. And the porn store descriptions and the list of every single title were really overkill. Never seemed to stop. We get it! It’s a porn store! I’m so sorry this seems mean but just being honest and sharing my own opinion.

Historia
When a young man is found gruesomely murdered in a London houseboat, it triggers questions about three women who knew him. Laura is the troubled one-night-stand last seen in the victim’s home. Carla is his grief-stricken aunt, already mourning the recent death of yet another family member. And Miriam is the nosy neighbor clearly keeping secrets from the police. Three women with separate connections to the victim. Three women who are – for different reasons – simmering with resentment. Who are, whether they know it or not, burning to right the wrongs done to them.

O.M.G!!! The STORY! The PERFORMANCE! WOW!
Revisado: 01-18-22
I listen to my audio books when I’m in my car and holy cow I couldn’t wait to have an errand to run so I could listen to more! I literally devoured this one. By far one of the best stories and oh my goodness the performance! I had no issue knowing which character was speaking when. This was a nailbiter and “page“ turner every single step of the way. The character development! E single thing about this book was just magnificent. Left nothing left to question, either. Truly complete
