Absolutely Hilarious!!!
Revisado: 04-29-21
I started listening to this with no expectations. So, after the first episode I was very pleasantly surprised. I was laughing out loud. It was bad enough that I woke my sleeping husband and he sleeps like the dead. It is, as you might expect, very dark humor. If you don't like black comedy then this book absolutely isn't for you. If you do like it then you have found the right place! It is seriously well written and so bad you might question your own morals just for listening to it and laughing!
Listen at your own risk! You never know, Geo and his son just may come after you!

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Quite Good! 📖 📚
Revisado: 11-18-20
I'm not at all sure what book these folks were reviewing. This isn't the exact type book I was expecting, being from Stephen King and Owen King, but it is none the less very well written, quite interesting and relatively satisfying in its ending. I liked the thoughtfulness that was put into the unique characters and their perspectives. The perspectives were real, from the fear felt by the women/girls to the rage, depression and despair felt by the men/boys. It's slightly stereotypical in the characterizations BUT stereotypes come from the fact that these are observable types of humans. Those that are recognizable, the ones we see everyday, those that make us weep or pity or want to punch, these are the ones that appear and just maybe one or two you don't expect. Those folks that said there were too many segues, I really disagree (you want an absolute butt ton, read The Stand!). There were a goodly number but they led to other places, into the thoughts or emotions of these folks. Even the minor
characters had a purpose. I believe they, the minor ones that is, gave us more of a look at the people they interacted with I don't believe they were meant to be characters that we were supposed to get involved with more along the lines of a description for the main characters.
I have to say, I LOVED the Fox 🦊! Yes, I said and meant the animal. He is a lovely character. The Rats were kind of interesting and would have love to have heard much more fro the Tiger. And that's all I'll say about them. (I don't want to give anything away...)
I'd say, overall this is a very good story. It has less horror than most all of his books, I said less not, No Horror but it's different, you might expect the scary things to come from one direction only to realize that it's coming from someplace you didn't expect at all. This is truly the most HUMAN novel I believe Stephen King has written.

Historia
Three years ago in a large Victorian house on the Jersey Shore in the town of Harbor Haven, fledgling private investigator Paul and his client, Maxie Malone, were murdered. Since then, recent divorcée and reluctant ghost whisperer Alison Kerby and her 10-year-old daughter, Melissa, have moved in and converted the place to a guesthouse, where Maxie and Paul are now checked in for an eternity and ready to solve any case that comes their way - or at least spook the guests (who love it). Alison’s got a lot on her plate at the moment, however, so when Paul discovers the 300-year-old ghost of a small boy in the house, he decides not to involve her in the case.

Fun and touching story
Revisado: 09-21-20
Firstly, the story was wonderful as per usual. With it being a short story I don't want to give any details away so let's just say it was quite good!
What I didn't care about was Mr. Cronin's narration. His cadence is odd, often it sounds like he is asking a question when it is actually a direct statement, well, really there were too many things in his style that bothered me to list. One thing that I believe is that if a narrator is new to an established series then he needs to reference the previously recorded artists and read the source material. For all of us Audible listeners that would be a major help. For instance, Loretta is a spry active grandmother, she's quirky and very interesting. Mr. Cronin has her sounding like the ancient grandmother character played by Mr. Jonathan Winters! So....
PLEASE NARRATORS! LISTEN AND COMPARE YOUR STYLE TO THE ONES ALREADY IN EXISTENCE!! IF YOU CAN'T BE CLOSE TO THOSE THEN "DO NOT DO THE JOB!!!"
These things may sound trivial but they can make or break an audible book series. If Mr. Cronin were to continue the series instead of just doing this POV Novella then I would absolutely quit the series.

Well Worth the Time!
Revisado: 10-18-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this first part of a very unique re-telling of Beauty and the Beast from a very Celtic perspective! I love how the Fae fit in so tidily. Of course the credit for that falls directly in Ms. Hamm’s hands. It is so satisfying yet it keeps me wondering.
Okay Part 2. Here I Come!!

Very Good Start!
Revisado: 07-02-19
What a nice start to a whole new world. The “Old West” atmosphere and interesting magic users fit together seamlessly. I wouldn’t have thought that it would have worked this well but it certainly did! The narration is absolutely wonderful! I fully enjoyed Ms. Kaminsky’s portrayal of these gritty/slick characters!
I am happy to leave 5🌟 for this book!
Thank you too Ms. Harris for opening the door to yet another amazing world!

Historia
Billy Connolly may be a citizen of the world, but in his heart he's never been far from his homeland. Made in Scotland is Billy's unique and intimate portrait of his native Scotland, a love letter to the places and people that made him. It's an adventure inspired by a single incident: the moment Billy received his Knighthood and was asked, 'How does it feel to have achieved all this when you came from nothing?' His response was, 'But I did come from something!'

Wonderful!!
Revisado: 06-25-19
I thoroughly loved this book! It made me laugh and so much. It’s sweet and even a bit bittersweet in places. Such a lovely thing for Billy I to do, to share his life with us in such an intimate way.
As for the narrator, Wow! He was wonderful! There were many times that I forgot that it wasn’t actually Billy Connolly speaking. His timing and cadence were wonderful. I have another of Billy’s books and its narration is just awful. It sounds like an Englishman trying to force a Scots accent.

Here's a question for you. What's the most exciting thing ever found in a fire bucket? And don't say 'fire' because you'll be wrong. Suppose - just suppose - it was the technology to take a pod to Mars? Yeah, now we're talking! Every Christmas, for reasons which seem good at the time - especially after an eggnog or two - Max and the others leap into the nearest pod and indulge in their illegal Christmas jump. It's a tradition. This year, however, just to be different, they find themselves part of someone else's illegal Christmas jump. It's time to don a spacesuit and bring your own urine!

OhMy! My Face Hurts from Laughter!
Revisado: 12-31-18
This along with all the other St. Mary’s books is absolutely wonderful! It’s full of both actual history and altered history. But the dialog is so spot on hilarious that my face hurts from laughter.
I happened to be listening to this while out shopping. That may not have been the best idea since I was of course wearing earbuds. The people out shopping that day kept giving me the strangest looks as I continued to burst out laughing as they passed by! I tried to apologize and show them my earbuds and tell them it was an audiobook but they did not care to hear that. So... oh well. I enjoyed it!!!

This was very interesting. I was intrigued when I realized that it was a “True Crime” Audible production. It was very nicely done.
The only problem, which has nothing to do with the written production is the ending. We can’t change facts.

So Intense!
Revisado: 01-20-18
This was a rare pleasure. When I bought this book several years back (2012) for my teenaged son I simply bought the book and paid little attention to it. Recently I decided that I would re-read/listen to some of the classics in my library. When I came upon this book I was surprised to see that it was read by the author!
Having the author and now deceased Mr. Golding read his work was Amazing! He brings such richness and possibly even hints more so at the characters’ personalities than another narrator may be able to do. It was simply wonderful!
It isn’t often that you get to hear the Author read you such a classic masterpiece 25 Years posthumously!
I suggest you revisit your “Freshman Reading List” pick this gem up and truly enjoy it as adult! It has so much more, more of everything in re-reading it as an adult and of course Mr. Golding’s narration is a giant bonus to boot!
