You’re a good girl. You’re afraid of being left. Blame blah blah. This could have been such a good story, but the repetitive inner dialogue of the MCs ruined it for me. It’s always annoying when grown adults act like twenty year olds. The MMC overcame so much in his life and still acted like a lost child. The FMC is in a box of her own making. Go. To. Therapy. Make friends. TALK! Act like an adult. Geez. The constant rumination brought the story way down for me even though the “mystery” was good. I skipped many chapters and missed nothing. Not worth the credit.

Not a terrible story. The lyrics though…eww so cringy. The MMCs inner thoughts kept getting more and more sappy and dumb as the story went on. His interactions with his BFF were ridiculously immature. Actually, a lot of the interactions are immature. I skipped from the middle to the MMCs conflict, then to the final chapter and missed nothing.
Not worth the credit.

This tale just dragged on and on with so much repetitive inner monologue. The idea is solid, but the tropes came across as a bit tired. We get it Paedyn; your dad was killed by the king, you grew up surviving in the slums, now you’re fighting for your people…join the club. And Kai; you were raised to be a monster, not the favored son, tortured soul…blah blah blah. I kept waiting for an interesting and surprising twist that never came. This is a basically New Adult angst (boo!) with powers and swords. We don’t even get any spice to break up the whining and navel gazing.
I’m out. Not even intrigued enough to read the next one.

Executed poorly. This is my first and last book by this author. Waaaay too much rehashing of events and thoughts both internally and in conversation. The meet cute is unique, but it’s mentioned in every other chapter - we get it! The friends and family of both characters are supposed to come across as supportive I think. Instead, they all seem shallow and uneducated.
I skipped chapters after she finds out who he is to get to the secondary conflict (which was actually handled well by the MMC) and missed nothing.
I’m a fan of Alexander Cendese but I think he’s an acquired taste. The female narrator takes audible breaths at the end of her sentences that annoyed me.
Overall, I do not recommend this one.

I get that the author wanted to keep us guessing BUT…waaaay too many things going on that were not resolved. Good twist that I didn’t see coming though. Worth the read, just not the best one in the series.

Not worth the credit. The “problems” between the families were petty and immature and really had nothing to do with the MCs. The careless and risky encounters between the supposedly adult MCs were super cringey.
Wasted credit for sure.

I liked the history and cultural knowledge shared in this story, but felt it pulled the focus from the main story. In addition the narrators, especially the female narrator, were so bad. The FN pronounced MANY words incorrectly to the point of distraction. It sounded like she was bored, very little inflection throughout the reading. Ugh. Do NOT waste your credit on this.

I just enjoyed the Mr. Right Checklist by Foster so I thought I’d try another. Mistake. This was basically a 1980’s harlequin romance, which can be fine, but not for me. Predictable and boring. I listened to the first six chapters and last four and missed nothing. No surprises. Nothing interesting. Plus, the “you lied to me” trope is one of my least favorites. Aiden Snow is one of my favorites, but even his voice couldn’t save this snooze-fest.
Skip this one, but do try the Mr. Right Checklist. Still predictable, but written much better.

Ugh. The immaturity of the MCs was just too much for me to take. I should have quit when I discovered what the “grudge” was from their past. Especially coming from a supposed brilliant businessman.
I also don’t love hate flocking so…
This could have been a good story if the MCs had behaved like adults.

I liked the idea of three storylines, but the immaturity of the MCs was disappointing. They all had some redeeming qualities, but for the most part they made terrible decisions and behaved like college kids. In fact, I may have liked this more if it were a dorm rather than a high end building of supposedly mature adults. Not sure why the author felt the need to portray her wealthy characters as vapid and borderline psychopathic, but she did them a disservice.
If you want to listen to this title, get it as a “listen and read for free” on KU. Otherwise, don’t waste a credit.
