FRIGHTFULLY FUN!!

What a treat to hear actual script from the attraction woven into the stories! Not for the squeamish and not for super young kids. This is stuff that nightmares are made of.

A personal fave ... however ...
Revisado: 08-22-21
This book is actually best as a read. To make matters worse, the narrator is rushing the content, as if she's in a race to get it finished and over with, which is pretty maddening for this particular content. I slowed the speed down to 0.80 which relaxed the delivery somewhat. Do yourself a favor and get the print copy and read each axiom as you would a daily meditation ... in that sense, each verse is like an oracle reading for the day.

Historia
In this pathbreaking book, Jonathan Rauch reaches back to the parallel 18th-century developments of liberal democracy and science to explain what he calls the “Constitution of Knowledge” - our social system for turning disagreement into truth. By explicating the Constitution of Knowledge and probing the war on reality, Rauch arms defenders of truth with a clearer understanding of what they must protect, why they must do - and how they can do it.

Great content ... narrator is absolutely horrible
Revisado: 07-28-21
I will be reading this book, as the content is excellent and timely. The author has a clear understanding of human behavior and its outcomes. I will be returning the audiobook. The narrator is like a voice-over for a black and white sex education film shown in a middle school class.

Not Really About The Weather
Revisado: 09-20-18
The listeners first task is to get past the first 30 minutes or so about the super-boring training of a female NASA astronaut. Then, they start talking about the weather. Not. The weather is just an analogy regarding our current political storm.

Revisado: 09-20-18
If you've read the reviews and excerpts that the press has written, you've pretty much read the book. There's nothing new to reveal here, as we've known along about the chaos, absurdity and stupidity of this administration.

Historia
Few have been a member of Donald Trump’s inner orbit longer than Omarosa Manigault Newman. Their relationship has spanned 15 years - through four television shows, a presidential campaign, and a year by his side in the most chaotic, outrageous White House in history. But that relationship has come to a decisive and definitive end, and Omarosa is finally ready to share her side of the story in this explosive, jaw-dropping account.

Have Your Emesis Bag Ready
Revisado: 08-16-18
I don't know what Omarosa is expecting or even what her intentions are in this book. She claims on talk shows that she wants no part of this being some sort of "October Surprise," but what else could it be? There's not anything new here that we didn't already know, as we have always known that trump (not capitalized on purpose) is a lying racist, misogynist and bigot. What is truly nauseating however, is how long she stuck around. I've heard her say that she was like a frog in boiling water, but come on now. Time after time after time, she appears to now recognize (in hindsight), but really, she actually recognized it while it was happening, yet she remained in the cult of trump. She settled a major lawsuit against the National Enquirer (spoiler alert) and took an offer from trump to advance her career while also doing him yet another "favor." But it just gets worse and worse as her denial remains so strong with each misstep the administration makes. She announces on TV now, over and over, her admission of being complicit. Great, but really lady? REALLY? How can someone apparently be so smart be so very stupid. Money talks and bullsh*t walks. Keep on walking, lady.

Historia
We are living in an age of conspiracy theories, whether it's an enduring, widely held belief such as government involvement in the Kennedy assassination, fears of a powerful infiltrating group, or modern fringe movements of varying popularity such as birtherism and trutherism. What is it in American culture that makes conspiracy theories proliferate? Who is targeted, and why? Are we in the heyday of the conspiracy theory, or is it in decline? American Conspiracy Theories is the first to use broad, long-term empirical data to analyze this popular American tendency.

Ugh. Take A Pass On This Title
Revisado: 08-12-18
This book lost me half-way through and I'll be returning the title. The performer sounds like Ed Wood. The listen becomes a hodge-podge of a mess that really offers no direction to any given topic. And, for a book supposedly based on empirical data, then the author really has no business listing some examples and ending the sentence with "and this or that." Really? The real conspiracy here is that this book may divert your attention from things that really matter like Mary Poppins or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This title was released late enough to at least cover the QAnon conspiracy but it was nowhere to be found. Or maybe it does, and I didn't make it through to the end of the book.

A Good Yarn, But Too Many Implausibilities
Revisado: 07-29-18
I could easily see why this is an exciting title. I wanted to like it more, but found myself in too much disbelief to really care. I understand that the exercises in stupidity are necessary to drive the plot forward, but methinks the author dug herself into such a huge hole that it became impossible to tie everything up in a nice bow in the end. Some foreshadowing was used perhaps one time too much that made me figure out the kind of surprise ending early on, which didn't quite make it a surprise. I look forward to more works by Ms. Steadman as there is clearly a great deal of talent going on here. The performance read by the author is certainly an excellent choice.

Historia
The scion of an old-money San Francisco family, Daniel Brasher left his well-paying, respectable money-manager position to marry his community organizer wife and work at a job he loves, leading group counseling sessions with recently paroled violent offenders. One night he finds an envelope - one intended for someone else that was placed in his office mailbox by accident. Inside is an unsigned piece of paper, a handwritten note that says, "Admit what you've done or you will bleed for it."

Another Great Yarn by Hurwitz
Revisado: 07-12-18
OK, so this may not be Hurwitz' best, but it's still a great listen. As usual, the Hurwitz plots are a little over the top with plenty of room for disbelief, or parts that lead to you say, "how did they arrive at that?", or, "why wasn't the FBI involved?" At any rate, the listener learns to overcome these thoughts because the writing is just so darned good. The end of this book has several moments where you think it's wrapping up the case, but it just gets full of twists and turns that keep you wanting more, and Hurwitz delivers. As usual, the performance by Scott Brick was par excellence with the accents right on the mark that let you know who is doing the talking. But please, can someone coach Mr. Brick into how to pronounce "Noe" as in "Noe Valley" in San Francisco? Please?
