Action-packed with a quirky young protagonist facing teenage dreams and issues along with saving the world.

I didn’t really like it much despite the high rating I gave it, but I’m not the target audience for this stuff either. I’d have loved it if I was 12-15 or so

One of the best yet.

New human villains and possible allies emerge, so the story can grow in a different direction. Still a whole lotta mutant fighting and X victorious against all odds. That is wearing a bit thin, but it is part of the backbone of the universe so I guess that is to be expected.

Amazing narration as usual. I would never have started the series but for RC Bray.

Like a lecture you can’t endure

In a good way.

The Emperor’s forward applauds the Stoicism he sees in his parents, siblings, friends, etc. And the narrator pleasantly drones on and on and on. And on.

You won’t be awake for the conclusion. I dare you to stay awake for 10 mins.

A 3 books were a fun yarn. The author spends a fair amount of time with anti taxation and small government rants (Libertarian?), and veers dangerously close to Islamaphobia, and arranges events in his universe to make those points. The economic rants were not necessary for the story.

If you lean conservative and believe that the best government is small (or no) government, then this will feel like a breath of fresh air. Too few authors express that for you.

I prefer my socioeconomic commentary to be left-leaning. But some of this author’s social commentary wasn’t important to the story.

For middle-school boys

Well-narrated mindless drivel, with explicit sex scenes so cliche and predictable that I wanted them to be over quickly not because I was offended, but because it was so puerile. (Like watching Michael say stupid things in The Office, I was embarrassed for the characters. But this was not intended as a comedy)

The characters are all unidimensional—unless you include the three dimensional descriptions of various body parts. It would be ok as simple-minded entertainment—nothing wrong with that. Not everything needs to be literature. But the sex scenes were too insipid to endure.

An amazing story, weaving insights from several wisdom traditions, and exploring the inner experience of visiting a holy person.

“See God in each other” is an old lesson that sadly must be repeated. This was a moving reminder, for which I am grateful.

Sophomoric parody

Humor best suited for "naughty" teenagers, if there are any who have not heard sex jokes before. The cast is amazing, but poor audio moving makes it difficult to hear voices over the overdone sound effects.

I expected better from McKinnon!

Interesting but...

The subject was interesting and timely, but it warrants maybe 30 minutes at the most.

Highly repetitive and for even casual observers of space exploration, the science and major events already well-known.
