narrator less insufferable than author
Revisado: 01-14-25
Copan will hold your hand and reassure you that the bible doesn't actually mean what it says, and that you really should suffer if you don't believe the same way that he does. Sometimes I wish he were more thorough, and other times he lectures incessantly about the meaning of a single word, as if that would exonerate the behavior of God in the bible or believers committing immoral acts in his name. Copan's rhetoric is effective though, no matter how little I approve of the content.

Good performance of a clichéd story
Revisado: 04-22-23
Predictable, lacking tension, weak. The author gives away everything before he goes on to describe a character's feture-length backstory in a plain English style that leaves a lot to be desired. You will be rolling your eyes. However, the narrator does a lot to revive this with his appropriate emotional emphases.

Incredible content, average style

I loved everything that Mrs. Obama had to say. My only gripe is that she sounds bored half the time.

Incredible.

Excellent, and only hardly controversial
Revisado: 11-22-22
I found most points in this book to be easy to accept. The idea about depression increasing submissiveness to male suppression is admittedly a bit hard to swallow. For every point in the book, I wish there was more preemptive counterargument to prove why this is the only correct answer. However, as it stands Dr Garcia has certainly moved me further into the feminist camp.
Seth Andrews reads consistently well but it's hard to shake the image of him standing in front of the class and just reading an essay, which is technically what he's doing anyway but it was a bit dry.

Historia
In The Blank Slate, Steven Pinker, one of the world's leading experts on language and the mind, explores the idea of human nature and its moral, emotional, and political colorings. With characteristic wit, lucidity, and insight, Pinker argues that the dogma that the mind has no innate traits, denies our common humanity and our individual preferences, replaces objective analyses of social problems with feel-good slogans, and distorts our understanding of politics, violence, parenting, and the arts.

This book will change your life
Revisado: 11-05-22
After reading this book, you get the sense that you haven't learned anything at all, because it all just seems so intuitive with Pinker's flawless deconstruction. You will never think of psychology the same way again, and you won't even know what hit you. It's too bad that this isn't required reading in high school health classes.
The worst thing about this auidobook is that the narrator is completely tone deaf. He reads each line of this psychology textbook as though it is an introduction for a professional wrestling match. At least he is consistent, so the cadence isn't so distracting after a while.

Richard Dawkins' brilliant reformulation of the theory of natural selection has the rare distinction of having provoked as much excitement and interest outside the scientific community as within it. His theories have helped change the whole nature of the study of social biology, and have forced thousands to rethink their beliefs about life.

Not bad, kind of boring after the last 3 books. Dotrice changed pronunciations of names, characters were conspicuously absent from the story.
