I truly appreciated learning a lot more about Pete Hegseth. I believe this 2+ hour public discussion (job interview) became the reason why Pete was chosen as our next Secretary of Defense.

Very Timely, Important, Interesting, and Helpful
Revisado: 10-11-24
I'm a lifelong Minnesotan who used to travel throughout the southeast for business. I am very concerned about the people of North Carolina and Tennessee who I grew to love. I can't find much information about what's happening there now. I have no doubt that our criminally ncompetent news media is covering for our criminally incompetent federal government. Your show today helped to fill some of that information void, and I truly appreciate it.

I could only listen to half of this one. The guest had many excellent insights. However, he lost credibility by discounting anyone who was sceptical of the official government narrative on virtually inany topic.

Historia
When recently retired DHS frontline officer and intelligence expert Philip Haney bravely tried to say something about the people and organizations that threatened the nation, his intelligence information was eliminated, and he was investigated by the very agency assigned to protect the country. The national campaign by the DHS to raise public awareness of terrorism and terrorism-related crime known as If You See Something, Say Something effectively has become If You See Something, Say Nothing.

Historia
The tale of the Bechtel family dynasty is a classic American business story. It begins with Warren A. "Dad" Bechtel, who led a consortium that constructed the Hoover Dam. From that auspicious start, the family and its eponymous company would go on to build the world, from the construction of airports in Hong Kong and Doha to pipelines and tunnels in Alaska and Europe to mining and energy operations around the globe.

Leftist Crap

The author clearly has some kind of pathological dislike for Bechtel Corp. There is nothing balanced about her writing that oozes condescension out of every chapter. I had to give up about 1/3 of the way through this book.

The Story of World War II

Narración:

Historia
Drawing on previously unpublished eyewitness accounts, prizewinning historian Donald L. Miller has written what critics are calling one of the most powerful accounts of warfare ever published. Here are the horror and heroism of World War II in the words of the men who fought it, the journalists who covered it, and the civilians who were caught in its fury. Miller gives us an up-close, deeply personal view of a war that was more savagely fought - and whose outcome was in greater doubt - than one might imagine. This is the war that Americans on the home front would have read about had they had access to previously censored testimony.

Historia
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

Tremendous Advice on Society and Citizenship
Revisado: 06-18-21
I have great respect for Dan Crenshaw, but I didn't know what to expect from his book. In a nut shell, Congressman Crenshaw provides a variety of lessons he learned while confronting and overcoming a lifetime of challenges. His advice is non-partisan, thoughtful, well reasoned and prescient. If everyone followed his practical advice, our society would be far better off.

Historia
The Appalachian Trail trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in America - majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes. If you’re going to take a hike, it’s probably the place to go. And Bill Bryson is surely the most entertaing guide you’ll find. He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way - and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in).

Entertaining (when the author is not ranting)
Revisado: 05-27-21
I was really enjoying this book, but I had to stop listening when I was only 40% done with it. The book was very well written, and the author had an entertaining way of describing experiences along the Appalachian Trail. As it proceeded the author sharply steered off onto some brief environmentalist rants. Thankfully, he moved on before the tenor of the book was damaged. That suddenly changed when the story reached Smokey Mountain N.P. At that point the author abruptly into a never ending rant against the National Park Service and it's management of the environment. The author's sudden shift of focus felt like bait-and-switch, in the extreme.
