Historia
At 22, Commander Ellen Ryu is a little young to be "retired". Ellen seized the chance for freedom when a shadowy organization offered her a ship of her own and an elite, all-female crew. She's got a new mission now: get revenge on the scientist who almost destroyed her...cyborg mercenary Kael Sidassian gets stuck with a mission he can't refuse...he’s also got damaged hardware in his head and a plan to escape from the barbaric merc company that forcibly conscripted him over a decade ago... if they aren't audacious enough to work together, they'll never survive what's coming for them.

We’ve got precious cargo!
Revisado: 08-12-19
The Empress Capsule is the rapid fire sci-fi story of the Audacity; a starship with a secret mission, a mysterious package, a kooky AI, and enemies on both sides of an interstellar war. The Commander is out for revenge. Passenger 6A has orders to deliver the package, and to go nuclear on anyone who gets in the way. Others on the ship have their own motivations; for good or ill. Outside the ship lie other dangers; from crazed mercenaries, to gene altering airborne viruses, to mindless drones.
Sci-fi has often pondered the survival of identity and individuality in a world where both the mind and the body can be radically altered or manipulated. Thorne’s exploration into these themes is refreshing in how the characters approach and react to each discovery.
Susan Erickson delivers an excellent performance for such a diverse cast off characters. I especially loved how she voices the ship's AI.
New listeners welcome. Lovers of Firefly, Mass Effect, or Ghost in the Shell, may owe it to themselves to give this one a listen. Returning veterans who enjoyed Thorne’s Enslaved Chronicles will likely find more to love here, only at a noticeably faster pace.

Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

In this classic fantasy novel from author Michael Ende, small and insignificant Bastian Balthazar Bux is nobody's idea of a hero, least of all his own. Then, through the pages of an ancient, mysterious book, he discovers the enchanted world of Fantastica, and only Bastian himself can save the fairy people who live there. Shy, awkward Bastian is amazed to discover that he has become a character in the mysterious book he is reading and that he has an important mission to fulfill.

I love SkyBoat, but there were a few slip ups on this one. The story is interesting and the performances were great. But there were A LOT of segments looped in to replace the word Hegemon. Come on guys, it's the title of the book.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. it's just a game...
Revisado: 06-10-13
Where does Ender's Game rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Number One! Easy.
What other book might you compare Ender's Game to and why?
I haven't read that many books, so for now I will have to say Hunger Games. The sad, heart-gripping stories of kids taken from their parents, forced to grow up early to survive the "game" that the adults built for them.
What about Stefan Rudnicki and Harlan Ellison ’s performance did you like?
All of them did great work. The emotions were palpable through the recording. Even the goofy future slang the kids used felt genuine. "Let's freeze these bugger-lovers."
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried. Cried, cried, cried. Tried not to cry on the public bus. They put this kid through hell, and I'm right there with him.

Historia
On April 18, 1981, a ball game sprang eternal. What began as a modestly attended minor-league game between the Pawtucket Red Sox and the Rochester Red Wings became not only the longest ever played in baseball history, but something else entirely. The first pitch was thrown after dusk on Holy Saturday, and for the next eight hours the night seemed to suspend its participants between their collective pasts and futures, between their collective sorrows and joys....

The people who were there.
Revisado: 06-10-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Only to baseball fans. This book is not too kind to the uninitiated. But to those who love the game, this is a great get. You will hear about the longest game and how it relates to other games, feats, and players. You will hear about the hard work and the heartbreak of trying to make it to the majors. And You will hear about the spirit and attitude of Pawtucket.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bottom of the 33rd?
The book does a great job of making you feel the players fatigue and frustration. At one point, it seems like the game is finally going to end, but it comes to nothing and the game has to keep going.
What aspect of Dan Barry’s performance would you have changed?
Overall nothing. A little too Just-The-Facts for my taste; but then again this is Baseball, so meh.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Is anybody still with us?
