Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

such language :-(

The story had great promise and I tried my best to finish it, but I will never understand why so many writers feel the need to cuss so bad it would make a sailor blush.

Historia
Allan Quatermain, a middle-aged big game hunter, is invited to join Sir Henry Curtis on an expedition to find Curtis's estranged younger brother George in the remote jungles of Africa. George had left home 2 years earlier, in search of Solomon's Mines, where legend had it that the great Biblical king had untold treasures. Quatermain agrees to accompany Sir Henry, in return for half the treasure and financial security for his son, and the men are joined by Captain John Good, who has medical training, and Umbopa, an enigmatic native who seems to know more than he lets on.

So SLOW...

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I am actually disappointed thus far with this book the story is just dragging on and on and on, less than two hours to go and they are hardly near the mine yet.
The Narrator is good, and I think he may be my only reason for being able to stick it out this far.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

Any additional comments?
My only complaint about this series is that some of the voices were a little too close together in sound and it got a little confusing as to whom was speaking.
Prime example is the voices of Gandalf and Aragorn .
