Historia
LA gardener Mas Arai returns to Hiroshima to bring his best friend’s ashes to a relative on the tiny offshore island of Ino, only to become embroiled in the mysterious death of a teenage boy who was about the same age Mas was when he survived the atomic bomb in 1945. The boy’s death affects the elderly, often-curmudgeonly, always-reluctant sleuth, who cannot return home to Los Angeles until he finds a way to see justice served.

Read for class but very good

Great story. I had to read it for a class but it definitely was worth the read even if it’s not for class.

Historia
On a clear spring day in 1995, five members of a religious cult unleashed poison gas on the Tokyo subway system. In attempt to discover why, Haruki Murakmi talks to the people who lived through the catastrophe, and in so doing lays bare the Japanese psyche. As he discerns the fundamental issues that led to the attack, Murakami paints a clear vision of an event that could occur anytime, anywhere.

I’m class reading
Revisado: 02-10-23
I was assigned to read some of this book for a class but I ended up reading the whole thing. I think we really are taken on a journey by Murakami as the guide. But everything is left for us to decide.

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Wow!!
Revisado: 11-05-22
At first I thought, “who has time for this book” and when I kept listening in my free time I kept looking for excuses for when to listen and learn more of this amazing plot from Steven King. Not only is the writing another level but the narration is top level. Absolutely incredible.
