Absolutely perfect writing and narration. This is such a brilliant idea and executed extremely well. Every bit is satisfying and it has stuck in my head for a long time.

Melancholy and meandering
Revisado: 11-08-24
Wow, the main character just cries-a-river for half a book and then it's a big lake and you just can't escape and you are drowning HELP ME ESCAPE THIS AWFUL PROTAGONIST!!!! And then you delete this horrible book and listen to the soothing sounds of concrete being crushed just to escape the memory of this grinding neurotic tale.

Very boring, predictable, juvenile. This is a great book for a kid who has never read any other books - especially good ones.

Historia
On a little-known planet, Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to empower himself with the magical abilities of his alternate selves. The ritual works too well, granting Varic not only the magic but also the memories from six lives. Including their gruesome deaths. Now, Varic has power greater than any wizard in galactic history, but he knows that won’t be enough. The enemies he faced in those alternate lives were apocalyptic in scale. Terrors of technology and magic. Nothing that he, or anyone, can defeat.

I'm a kid in the tub playing with action figures. There are no rules and all the rules are awesome. This story is the most excellent superhero experience and gives Marvel and DC a run for their money. Please make this an animated series immediately and hurry up with that next book man!

What an amazing short story! This is a tasty little gem that is very satisfying. I hear the characters for days after finishing and they still crack me up. This book is exciting and entertaining and sheds light on the sort of weird intolerable people who might just be better than we normies.

Meandering and Fluffy
Revisado: 05-02-24
There are some really great ideas here, but it is really hard to follow and some of the most excellent science fiction pieces are woefully short. The author leans on these characters heavily and it breaks the novel because they are weak and ill-defined. I feel like I could immediately write an entire chapter per character to flesh them out and an entire book for each mind-blowing idea that the author just skips over lightly with total disregard for how juicy they are. Lots of potential is lost here and it's a slog to make it through. I feel sort of sick and dizzy and disorganized even though there really isn't that much here to bite onto.

Solid but not revolutionary
Revisado: 04-19-24
Pretty good generic dungeons and dragons literature. Words like "goblin" are replaced for some reason and "mage" becomes "spellcaster" but it's a decent story and a great narrator. A ranger fights 20 thieves at the same time which is somehow possible in this universe. It's not D&D though, because the words are changed. *wink* Also, the only spell is based on "sonic" power. Revolutionary.

Historia
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Mediocre writing, even for fans
Revisado: 02-10-24
It's hard to recommend this meandering book. Entire plotlines are just forgotten until it's convenient to grab them again. If you aren't already a fan of Warhammer everything is going to be very confusing. If you are a fan it's still going to be rough.
There are too many characters and many die so it's hard to keep track of them especially when they are alternately referred to by first name or last name or even rank.
Important concepts are left very vague. For example, Chaos is never mentioned once, you just kind of connect the dots and there are hints of Necrons, but please spell it out.
There are some great sequences, but overall I'm frustrated and wish I had just watched some Dawn Of War cutscenes instead.

Just when Baron Minalan the Spellmonger figured out there was a slim chance to restore his mind-shattered wife Alya (if he's willing to journey to the undercaverns of Olum Seheri, the lair of Korbal the Necromancer), things start to go awry: not only does Prince Tavard, his unloved liege lord, decide to conduct an official state visit to Sevendor on pilgrimage to the Everfire on the Briga's feast day, but a mysterious seamage appears at his door with an intriguing offer from the Sea Folk who rule Callidore: They want to buy snowstone. An entire mountain of it.

Revisado: 11-15-23
This is it folks - your stop. It's been amazing, but time has come to get off the train because Terry has fallen into the money printer. 100% love the casual meandering style of this author and series, but the fluff is truly astounding in this book. Absolutely, this book could and should be edited down by 50%. It's maddening to love and be invested in a tale and feel that moment where the author is just working and not having fun anymore.
