Historia
The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

Loved this Book!!
Revisado: 11-15-12
Such a creative way to tell a story. I really enjoyed the vignettes, and the tie-ins later on from each of the different perspectives. I had heard about this book for years, but never got around to picking it up. So glad I was able to spend the time. I was honestly a little disappointed that the audio seemed so short (close to 6 + hours). I realized that only the abridged version is available, but would honestly listen to the whole thing over if the unabridged version became available.
The performances were spectacular!! I loved the honesty behind every reader. I sometimes felt as though I was listening to an interview on the radio and not a book about a zombie apocalypse!
I enjoyed every section and was disappointed when it ended. I can't wait to see how it translates onto the screen next summer.

Took a while to get into this one...but worth it.
Revisado: 11-15-12
I honestly stopped listening to this book about three or four times. The words "I have to get back my son!" started to grate on me during the first couple of chapters. However, I gave it another chance and kept listening. Once I made it over the hump (about an hour or two in) it really picked up and became quite exciting. Mr. Collins, really disappears into each character whether it is Sam (clearly American with no discernible accent) or Milla (a woman from Moldova). I would sometimes forget it was the same person doing both voices.
It was suspenseful at times, witty and funny in odd moments. The story was predictable at times, but there are only a few options of how things can resolve in any thriller, so perhaps "predictability" is always a possibility depending how you are guessing at the next progression of the story. Overall, I am glad I purchased it and powered through some of the earlier moments that just became repetitive and didn't quite gel.
From the middle of the book on, I really did find myself excited about the next time I would be able to sneak some time in to have a listen.

Great inspirational insight...
Revisado: 10-10-12
The best advice is often that which you have always known, but did not really want to hear. The advice in this book is tough to put into practice, but will all logically lead to a better and more fulfilling life. I have tried some of the techniques already and have gone back and re-listened to certain passages for some reinforcement of the principles and ideas. Sometimes, it was as if Mr. Carlson was speaking directly to me. These nuggets of wisdom were often things that seemed obvious, but having someone else put them into context suddenly made them easier to incorporate into my own life. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is open to insight about the everyday struggles people go through in attempting to achieve a balanced and happy life.
