Historia
The United States, the richest country on earth, has more poverty than any other advanced democracy. Why? Why does this land of plenty allow one in every eight of its children to go without basic necessities, permit scores of its citizens to live and die on the streets, and authorize its corporations to pay poverty wages?

Before Michael Kosta was performing stand-up comedy specials and hosting The Daily Show, he was a professional tennis “star,” reaching the lofty heights of the #864 ranked men’s singles player in the world. Stop laughing. That’s better than your world ranking. As a tennis pro, Kosta traveled across the globe, competing in such exotic locales as the Netherlands, Tokyo, and even rural Illinois before deciding to put down his racket and pursue a more stable and predictable career: comedy.

Historia
Fully updated chapters continue to address how technology and increasing levels of education have exposed people to more information than ever before. These societal gains, however, have also helped fuel a surge in narcissistic and misguided intellectual egalitarianism that has crippled informed debates on any number of issues. Over the past several years, the rise of populism and conspiracy theories have taken this to new levels. All voices, even the most ridiculous, demand to be taken with equal seriousness, and any claim to the contrary is dismissed as undemocratic elitism.

Historia
We all feel it—the distraction, the loss of focus, the addictive focus on the wrong things for too long. We bump into the zombies on their phones in the street, and sometimes they’re us. We stare in pity at the four people at the table in the restaurant, all on their phones, and then we feel the buzz in our pocket. Something has changed utterly: for most of human history, the boundary between public and private has been clear, at least in theory. Now, as Chris Hayes writes, “With the help of a few tech firms, we basically tore it down in about a decade.”

Love this book AND your nightly show
Revisado: 02-07-25
This book, written with the same intelligence and superior vocabulary, will give you great insight to getting and keeping attention!
Note to Chris: In Chapter 3, you mentioned the edict you declared after seeing your son watching two things at once. I set down that same rule to our, now, 13-year-old grandson. He ALWAYS watches a tablet and a TV when he visiting for breakfast 3 mornings a week.
UNTIL I READ... that people with ADHD use one of the screens to quiet their over-active brain while another area processes the information on the other screen.
Needless to say, I apologized to my grandson and dropped that rule that was established because it didn't fit MY WAY of taking in the world.
Is this helpful for you and your son?
Sending love to you, Chris! Charlie

Historia
Ogilvy on Advertising was written in 1983 by David Ogilvy. He was a prominent advertiser who shared his knowledge about how to advertise, how to get a job in advertising, and described changes happening in the world of advertising at the time. One of the most important points of this book is that originality and creativity should not be sought after for its own sake: if a strategy works in advertising, then use it. Note: This is a summary and analysis of Ogilvy on Advertising, not the original book.
