Historia
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Mundane reality translates really well to alternate reality sci-fi
Revisado: 03-21-25
This was a hilarious roller coaster through the absurdity of a customer service position in an AR where your neighbors are probably not human, and that's normal. I laughed a lot. And extra props for managing to keep a plot that revolves around excrement pretty classy.

From deep within the Venezuelan rain forest emanates the legend of a white goddess and a mysterious tribe with startling technical accomplishments. Few believe the tribe exists, and even fewer suspect its deity can change the course of history.

Revisado: 01-23-24
The narrator does some nice voices, but the accents fade in and out. Some of them are too loud while others are too quiet. And there are some weird pauses that sometimes go on so long I checked to see if I had accidentally paused the story. I have read the actual paperback years ago and it felt like something was missing, and when I came back and read the title details again this is an abridged version. I wish that info was bold or highlighted because I rarely enjoy anything that's abridged.

A wild ride!
Revisado: 12-16-22
So many plot twists! Very well performed. I love full cast pieces. And this one was even enhanced with a nice soundtrack. Fun story line with a delightful absurdity similar to Hitchhikers Guide. But SO MUCH SWEARING! I stopped part of the way in and seriously thought about not finishing it because of the language. I finally just tried to ignore it because I wanted to know how it ended. But I wish people would realize you don't have to use so much language, the story sells itself. It doesn't really "sound authentic" it just puts people off. It was fun but I'm not keeping it in my library.

Really prompted discussion
Revisado: 05-11-21
This was even better than I hoped it would be. They presented all sides of the argument equally but without being preachy. It went a lot deeper than "is killing animals bad?" or "are you helping save the planet?" It answered some questions I have and left me with new questions and things to look into. It wrapped up without telling you what the right answer is, leaving space for each person to choose for themselves.

Can a plot be too twisty?
Revisado: 02-25-21
The narrator had a great voice and was very pleasant to listen to. The story was very intriguing. There were some definite twists I wasn't expecting, but overall I just couldn't follow it as an audiobook. I plan to get it as a hardcopy sand try it again. There are two distinct timelines running at the same time and I really feel it needed to be read by two distinctly different voices, maybe even so far as a man and a woman one for each timeline, so that I could follow it more easily.

great mystery, too much language
Revisado: 09-23-20
This was my first novel by this author.
The narrator did a great job. I really enjoyed listening and then some character would burst out a good deal of cursing. You can convey intense emotion without all the swearing.
The mystery was well written. No glaring plot holes, the characters have depth, the premise was believable. I was pretty sure I knew who did it 2/3's in, but still managed to be surprised.
I was also surprised when the book flirted with being a romance, which is fine. I enjoy a clean romance. But they were pretty descriptive about desires and physiques. I won't continue the series because I'd rather not know exactly what happens if the main characters make it to the bedroom.

Wally Roux is a teenage genius with a big imagination and a big heart, who just moved to Savannah, GA, from Maine with his mom, who adopted him when he was an infant. In this charming and sweet solo performance, Wally investigates what is causing a number of strange events and occurrences. He explores and gets lost within space-time - an infinite, indefinable, and mysterious void that you can’t see but when you slice into it you can feel it.

Very intriguing story, but too much language
Revisado: 11-08-19
Great narrator, in fact at a few points I found myself thinking there were multiple narrators because the characters were so distinct.
The story started off strong, but later on I found myself being surprised at details that should have been made more obvious right at the start. Also there was far too much language, especially for such well educated characters. The summary makes this sound like it might be a good middle grade read but never hints at the language. I let my kids use my audible so it will not be staying in my library.

Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

Great!
Revisado: 11-08-18
This was a great version of Emma I loved it!
The voice actors made it so easy to follow the story, because so much of Austen's work depends on the conversations. The good but minimal sound effects really added to the scenes and there's very pleasant music for the transitions. Great narrator. Listening to it I really felt that I was probably just in the next room listening to the someone else watching a movie.

A different style, but very enjoyable
Revisado: 08-06-18
It took a bit to get used to the unique style, but I loved it! In fact I just picked up the sequel and can't wait to listen to it.
The narrator did a nice job.
The characters and their world feel familiar because we already know most of the backstories, but at the sametime they are original and I couldn't wait to see what they would do next.
