I was once having a conversation with someone trying to sell me on a career advancement service. They started by admonishing pyramid schemes (now multi-level marketing models or "MLMs") like Herbalife and Mary Kay. Guess what? They were selling me a pyramid scheme.

That's how I felt with the author of this book dismissed the value of personality quizzes like Myers-Briggs in the opening chapter before immediately launching into a detailed description of their own such made-up assessment. Total head-scratcher.

Props to the performer, though. Great inflection and very easy to understand.

I had high hopes for this title after reading other reviews. I can't believe how wrong they were and how dull this story is. No setups pay off. There are no consequences for any of the characters' actions. The ending is anticlimactic and seems to occur by accident.

The author's story in "I'll Take Your Questions Now" isn't that enthralling. The performer's reading irks me. If you're looking for a more honest and journalistic recounting of the Trump era, there are much better sources.

I won't be listening to any more books read by Michael Chamberlain. Very nasal and plosive-heavy. Makes me wonder if maybe he had a cold when this was recorded? Couldn't finish the audio book but still interested in reading it the old fashioned way some day.

Okay if you can get past Will Patton's partial rhotacism. Great story as usual. Word.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I won't be re-dipping my toes in the H.P. Lovecraft pond. I don't find his vague style of horror all that interesting nor frightening. Lovecraft seems to avert descriptive writing by saying things like, "a face so horrific I can't describe it," or, "a feeling so chilling I can't explain." Try. You're an author. Or were an author, as it is.

Also, the audio on this book is bad. There is a strange echo, almost as if someone's monitor headphones were turned too loud in the recording booth. Around 1:54:00 there's even a click track that becomes accidentally audible for a few seconds. Just amateur technical production. Distracting.
