Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Historia
Helen Brown wasn't a cat person, but her nine-year-old son Sam was. So when Sam heard a woman telling his mum that her cat had just had kittens, Sam pleaded to go and see them. Helen's heart melted as Sam held one of the kittens in his hands with a look of total adoration. In a trice the deal was done - the kitten would be delivered to them when she was big enough to leave her mother. A week later, the family suffered a terrible tragedy. Totally traumatised by it, Helen completely forgot all about the kitten until a little black bundle of fur was delivered to her doorstep.

This was beautiful story. It was sad, happy, touching and memorable. I agree they aren't just cats. They are part of our families they are furry beings that come into our lives to love us, give joy, mend us and provide comfort. ❤️

I loved this story! The narrator made all the more magnificent! It didn't feel like narration it felt like the reader was actually in Lily's head looking through her eyes. It didnt seem as if the narrator was reading at all. I would recommend this book to everyone hands down!

Sensational 👍🏻

I loved this! It was like watching a dramatic movie only I was listening. The narrators performances were outstanding. Mary-Louise Parker was not a narrator she was the character and I was a fly on the wall! William Hochman was wonderful also. The sarcasm, hurt, the defensiveness, anger and loneliness came through in their voices. The story was really spectacular drew me in right away. Thumbs up

Historia
A free woman of color in the 1830s, Margaret Morgan lived a life full of promise. One frigid night in Pennsylvania, that changed forever. They tore her family apart. They put her in chains. But they never expected her to fight back. In 1837, Margaret Morgan was kidnapped from her home in Pennsylvania and sold into slavery. The state of Pennsylvania charged her kidnapper with the crime, but the conviction was later overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. Yet, the heart of this story is not a Supreme Court ruling.

Never true freedom
Revisado: 12-23-21
It was a great book. I can't call it a story because that would imply that the book was made up. Even though the family in the book was fictional. Sadly this book depitced how unnecessarily horrible the human beings were treated and how they suffered. They cherished family, laughed, loved, celebrated & greived loss. Even among adversity.
