Historia
Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power. Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan's betrayal. She bides her time, determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Great , complete storytelling

Jude should’ve beat her sister’s a@@ right from the very beginning. But I like how the author fleshed each character out. Thank you Holly

Historia
This true modern masterpiece is built around the two fateful words that make up the title and herald the end - “Alas, Babylon.” When a nuclear holocaust ravages the United States, a thousand years of civilization are stripped away overnight, and tens of millions of people are killed instantly. But for one small town in Florida, miraculously spared, the struggle is just beginning, as men and women of all backgrounds join together to confront the darkness....

America’s racism on full display
Revisado: 01-26-22
This old book is amazing in its misogyny, racism and toxic masculinity- if you can ignore all three you’ll have a good listen and are probably white.

Historia
Environmental devastation and economic chaos have turned America into a land of horrifying depravity. Assault, theft, sexual abuse, slavery, and murder are commonplace. And a zealous, bigoted tyrant has won his way into the White House. Directly opposed is Lauren Olamina, founder of Earthseed - a new faith that teaches "God Is Change". Persecuted for "heathen" beliefs as much as for having a Black female leader, Earthseed's followers face a life-and-death struggle to preserve their vision.

The narrators were TERRIBLE
Revisado: 04-02-21
Loved the story and the previous audible vices by the late Lynn Thipen- if the story wasn’t so wonderful these voices would have completely ruined it. I’d loved for some author, someone like Tannana Rive Due to write the last book centered on those years where Earthseed blossomed.

Historia
Woody Bookman hasn’t spoken a word in his eleven years of life. Not when his father died in a freak accident. Not when his mother, Megan, tells him she loves him. For Megan, keeping her boy safe and happy is what matters. But Woody believes a monstrous evil was behind his father’s death and now threatens him and his mother. And he’s not alone in his thoughts. An ally unknown to him is listening.

Historia
It is the present day, and the world is as we know it: smartphones, social networking, and Happy Meals. Save for one thing: The Civil War never occurred. A gifted young black man calling himself Victor has struck a bargain with federal law enforcement, working as a bounty hunter for the US Marshal Service. He's got plenty of work. In this version of America, slavery continues in four states called "the Hard Four". On the trail of a runaway known as Jackdaw, Victor arrives in Indianapolis knowing that something isn't right—with the case file, with his work, and with the country itself.

A Masterpiece!
Revisado: 09-29-19
From the performance, to the storyline and the entire plausibility of the work, like what if???
As a student of American history the sheer amount of research that had to be done on what it meant to be enslaved, how it buoyed and supported America’s economy and how it’s residual legacy uphold white supremacy and its institutions. The research that had to be done just to get the wording right- Persons Bound to Labor- and how, just like the United States tried to sanitize it i(like they are doing in the schools)—- How the slave catchers snatched folks off the street in the 1700s is modernized but no less brutal. Kudos to Mr. Winters and Bravo to William DeMeritt who gave an Oscar winning (Audie too) performance. Thank you both.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

The suspense is not worth the pay off...
Revisado: 01-25-18
And it’s hardly believable... people die for no reason at all- the white priviledge is dense and cloying: compromising a great rent controlled apt , quitting a job, damaging property that doesn’t belong to you a nonchalantly getting your neighbor killed with hardly a bit of remorse - I ignored all of that just to see what the payoff was... a new job for mediocre Nate.
Next time I’ll stick to my instincts and return crap right away.
The one bright spot was the narrator - ray porter was excellent even if the story sucked

Historia
Only 22, Emma learned to bake at the side of a master, Ezra Kuchen, the village baker since before she was born. Apprenticed to Ezra at 13, Emma watched with shame and anger as her kind mentor was forced to wear the six-pointed yellow star on his clothing. She was likewise powerless to help when they pulled Ezra from his shop at gunpoint, the first of many villagers stolen away and never seen again. In the years that her sleepy coastal village has suffered under the enemy, Emma has silently, stealthily fought back.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

If you're looking for a great story...
Revisado: 12-13-17
You've come to the right place.
It's very rarely that I find a great story combined with a great actor here on audible - I'm not one to dissect and compare- I come only to be entertained. Rosario Dawson is Amazing as Jas and all of the other characters- this book has way less math than the Martian but like I said I haven't come to compare-
I was well entertained and I've already listened to it twice- the last book I listened to more than once was Underground Airlines and The Warmth of Other Suns.
Great book, great performance- I'll be checking for Rosario in the future cuz she knows how to pick them as well as how to act them.

Wrong Narrator for this work.
Revisado: 07-30-17
I love the premise- I actually love everything this author writes- Oh have such an invigorating and interesting intellect!!!
However I hated the narration and will be buying the book...
I wish whoever performed The Book of Phoenix would've narrated this one... I think it was Robin Miles who is also awesome

Historia
This is the way the world ends, for the last time. The season of endings grows darker, as civilization fades into the long cold night. Essun - once Damaya, once Syenite, now avenger - has found shelter, but not her daughter. Instead there is Alabaster Tenring, destroyer of the world, with a request. But if Essun does what he asks, it would seal the fate of the Stillness forever. Far away, her daughter Nassun is growing in power - and her choices will break the world.

Omg what a freaking waste of time
Revisado: 02-18-17
The protagonist is suppose to be soooo smart but she constantly makes stupid ass mistakes. Constantly saved by smarter people than her. The author fashions her as you as if **roll eyes**
A 9 ringer who can't control her emotions? Nah. Rather unbelievable AND but a waste of time
I would personally ask the author for my money back for BOTH books but I'll just return... just stupid can't believe it got 5*s
