In The Limehouse Text, Cyrus Barker and Thomas Llewelyn discover a pawn ticket among the effects of Barker's late assistant, leading them to London's Chinese district, Limehouse. What a great team
Revisado: 04-06-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I am a Holmes and Watson dedicated reader and listener and find that this "Private Inquiry Agent" team is just as intriguing and the writing just as good as any Arthur Conan Doyle story. I can see the characters in my minds eye, I can see them in the time frame that they are set in and the story lines are oddly believable. I am hooked!

Please don't mispronounce words!
Revisado: 06-29-15
Any additional comments?
Being a bit of a perfectionist, I found myself listening for the next word that was pronounced so poorly it may not have been decipherable had I not had Sherlockian ears!
Twice I heard Sherlock's ennui pronounced en-you-i. There were enough other words that had an almost unrecognizable meaning due to the way they were pronounced that this narrator got on my last nerve!

Historia
Welcome to the world of Kara Gillian, a cop with a gift. Not only does she have the power of "othersight" to see what most people can’t even imagine, but she’s become the exclusive summoner of a demon lord. Or maybe it’s the other way around. The fact is, with two troublesome cases on her docket and a handsome FBI agent under her skin, Kara needs the help of sexy, insatiable Lord Rhyzkahl more than he needs her. Because these two victims, linked by suspicious coincidence, haven’t just been murdered. Something has eaten their souls.

Excellent story - but is the narrator a tween?
Revisado: 10-06-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would be more likely to recommend the e-book than the audible book to a friend as the narrator sounds so young.
What did you like best about this story?
I really like the vocabulary used by the demons - identifying the type of demons and pests. Nice use of harsh consonants!
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrator made everyone in the story sound like they were still in high school. That made it difficult for me to discard my disbelief.

British Comedy at it's driest

What did you love best about Midnight Riot?
What an unexpected story! Totally unique and entertaining
What other book might you compare Midnight Riot to and why?
The closest comparison would be to Tilt A Whirl. Rookie cop working with a confident, quiet veteran of the "force".
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not only did I want to listen to this book in one sitting, I had to go back and get the next two books in the series right away. I spent the three day weekend with Ben Aaronovitch and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith and enjoyed every minute of it!

The plot was just twisted enough to keep me wanting more. How wonderful to listen to Mycroft and his machinations for the "government".

Not what I expected from Grisham

What did you love best about Calico Joe?
The narrator really conveys the sense of joy and intense interest of a little boy growing up with baseball. Listening to the stats as he performed them made them interesting!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I loved the scene where Mickey Mantle sits down next to him and just talks to him like a person.

Historia
Thirty-five years old, fresh off the bus from New York City, and nursing a shattered heart, Anna Pigeon takes a decidedly unglamorous job as a seasonal employee of the Glen Canyon National Recreational Area. On her day off, she goes hiking into the park never to return. Her co-workers think she’s simply moved on - her cabin is cleaned out and her things gone. Anna herself wakes up, trapped at the bottom of a dry natural well, naked, without supplies and no clear memory of how she got into this situation. As she slowly pieces together her memory, it soon becomes clear that someone has trapped her there....

Back to the beginning
Revisado: 03-11-12
If you could sum up The Rope in three words, what would they be?
Twists and turns
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Very exciting with multiple plot twists. She keeps you wondering just who the villain is and then, just when you know, she throws in another twist.
What about Joyce Bean???s performance did you like?
Joyce sounded like the Anna Pigeon I always imagined and her character voices are really on the spot. I was never lost wondering who was talking.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Buddy appeared on the scene, I felt the joy.
