Historia
For the past few hundred years, most of what we’ve been taught about the native cultures of North America came from reports authored by the conquerors and colonizers who destroyed them. Now - with the technological advances of modern archaeology and a new perspective on world history - we are finally able to piece together their compelling true stories. In Ancient Civilizations of North America, Professor Edwin Barnhart, Director of the Maya Exploration Center, will open your eyes to a fascinating world you never knew existed - even though you’ve been living right next to it, or even on top of it.

Informative and Empathetic
Revisado: 01-06-23
Covers a lot of ground and does a good job highlighting cultures and groups that most lay people would not be aware of. I would’ve liked if it covered the First Nations if Canada in more depth however, as most of the discussion is limited to the continental US.

Historia
Charles Darwin's foremost biographer, Janet Browne, delivers a vivid and accessible introduction to the book that permanently altered our understanding of what it is to be human. A sensation on its publication in 1859, The Origin of the Species profoundly shocked Victorian readers by calling into question the belief in a Creator with its description of evolution through natural selection. And Darwin's seminal work is nearly as controversial today.

Educational and Accesible

Extremely concise and well written, explains the science, politics, and attitudes surrounding Darwin and his legacy in a very easy to understand way. The book also does a great job humanizing Darwin.

Amazing
Revisado: 08-11-22
Such a good book, the performance is a bit strange; some chapters are fully voice acted while others are not, seemingly without reason. It’s a little distracting, but it’s more of a curiosity than an annoyance.
