Historia
Rather than protect their daughter like any good parent should, first Fanny and then Thomas Bennet push their sixteen-year-old daughter Elizabeth into a marriage with a much older man who happens to be a duke. Fanny is seduced by the fact he is a duke, even if he is not interested in Jane, something she cannot believe at first, and his willingness to dower her remaining four daughters. For Bennet, when the Duke offers to break the entail on Longbourn after a certain condition is met, his half-hearted opposition to the match dissipates.

A Bit Harsh
Revisado: 07-28-24
There was very little in the way of gray areas. The bad guys were demons and the good guys were perfect. All the good guys got happy ending and the bad guys got the worst of all endings. I found the absolute demonization of the Bennet parents to be unbelievable and over the top. There was zero forgiveness. Considering this was a time period when it was common practice to marry your daughters to men who could bring the most fortune to the family. I suspect that the community would not have turned their backs on the parents. There would have been more sadness at their demise.

A Fun Ride
Revisado: 06-29-23
I really enjoyed this book. While it's a book for geeky types like me, it isn't one that you can look too closely without asking a lot of logical questions. But if you suspend your disbelief for the time to listen I think you will find something suspenseful, mysterious, and fun.
The narrator was awesome. I loved his continuity between the different characters. I especially loved his voice for Hero. It had a George Takei quality to it that I enjoyed.

Illogical Story
Revisado: 06-02-23
The primary characters hidden pasts made little sense. No real reason for either to be hidden.

Unacceptable
Revisado: 03-30-18
I'm not a prude and I don't mind some fairly steamy scenes but this story is just plain X rated. At first you have sympathy for the Duke but after he drags an innocent woman against her will to a brothel in order to make his point, I found him unredeemable. I found it an instance of non consensual participation in sexual deviance. regardless of attraction, this woman should have slapped him in the face and let him clean up his own mess. She was not in the wrong when she reported seeing what she assumed was an assault and his character should have been smart enough to be aware of that instead of being " infuriated" by her. I couldn't get past this and will not read anymore of her books in the future.
