don't waste a credit
Revisado: 08-07-18
I want to preface by saying that I loved The Girl Before, so I was excited to delve into another book by this author. This was the most unbelievable story, and became so boring I was praying for it to end..not to mention, the multiple narrators listed on the page are misleading. There is a single female narrator and odd sound effects as if this were an old-time radio show. You have to go beyond "willing" to suspend disbelief. Very strange

Julie and James settle into a house in a small town outside the city where they met. The move - prompted by James' penchant for gambling, his inability to keep his impulses in check - is quick and seamless; both Julie and James are happy to leave behind their usual haunts and start afresh. But this house, which sits between lake and forest, has plans for the unsuspecting couple.

This book was incredibly boring- fell asleep almost every time I listened to it. Prose is repetitive and there is no real story line or conclusion

Historia
When Beth arrives in DC, she hates everything about it: the confusing traffic circles, the ubiquitous Ann Taylor suits, the humidity that descends each summer. At dinner parties, guests compare their security clearance levels. They leave their BlackBerrys on the table. They speak in acronyms. And once they realize Beth doesn't work in politics, they smile blandly and turn away.

I was expecting a lot more from this novel. It fell flat. There were plenty of opportunities for the author to make some scandalous twists, but alas. Wouldn't recommend

Millennial Must Read for the Quarter Life Crisis
Revisado: 02-08-17
Would you listen to The Futures again? Why?
This piece was beautifully written tale of coming of adulthood in the 21st century- romance, intrigue and heartfelt honesty.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Futures?
I believe it accurately portrays those acquired post college years that leave many young people today to feel like they are floundering. It truly encompasses that painfully isolating feeling in your 20's/30's that everyone is moving forward and you are stagnant.

Fast Paced, Disturbing Suspense
Revisado: 02-08-17
If you could sum up Behind Her Eyes in three words, what would they be?
I would have to agree with some other reviewer's comments that this book relies on the same shock and "Wtf?!" tactics as hits like 'Gone Girl', but it was still a unique and toughly woven story. Overall audiobook has a gritty, uncomfortable vibe (in a good way). I won't discuss the ending, but enjoy the ride and don't spend the entire book trying to figure out what the "Wtfending" everyone is talking about.

The wealthy enclaves north of San Francisco are not the paradise they appear to be, and nobody knows this better than the students of a local high school. Despite being raised with all the opportunities money can buy, these vulnerable kids are navigating a treacherous adolescence in which every action, every rumor, every feeling, is potentially postable, shareable, viral.

Over Hyped..an attempt to recreate a PG "Kids"
Revisado: 01-16-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
YA readers..usually i enjoy narrators from different POVS, but this was not a cohesive story and had a very dull ending.
Has The Most Dangerous Place on Earth turned you off from other books in this genre?
slightly.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
monotone...no real variances between characters; be they male or female.
What character would you cut from The Most Dangerous Place on Earth?
Molly Nichols

Quick (Mildy) Satisfying Listen
Revisado: 11-10-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I really wanted to love this book. I am a sterotypical fan of "Gone Girl", Luckeist Girl Alive, Etc, and I have o say that this book does not hold a torch. It reminded me very much of Lisa Lutz' The Passanger; although the ending felt rushed and a lot of loos ends weren't tied up.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The disappearance of Julie and the shifting prespectives. You need to suspend belief for some of the story in able to enjoy because it is quite unrealistic. It's loosley based on the abduction of Elizabeth Smart
What three words best describe Karen Peakes’s performance?
animated, easy to listen to, kept me engaged
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
unlikely considering all of the similar books in this genre.
Any additional comments?
I prefer Luckiest Girl Alive or The Passanger to this book. Again, quick read, but no real substance or character development.

READ THIS BOOK. IT WILL HAUNT YOU
Revisado: 01-10-16
Would you listen to You again? Why?
I have already read and listened to this book 4 times since it was released. It's one of those cerebral books that totally grips you and the only way to shake it is to read it again. This book is definitely one of my favorites, and Santino Fontana's incredible narration bring the pages to life. I've read Hidden Bodies twice so far, and I've already pre ordered the audiobook. Kepnes is very talented. I forced all of my friends to read this too
Who was your favorite character and why?
Joe. The unreliable yet charming murderer. This book allows you to explore and dissect the dark side of the human brain. Embracing the darkness within ourselves also makes this book delicious. I was intrigued by Beck's character too- I could relate to a lot of things, considering she is my age- but also kinda hated her.
Which scene was your favorite?
I won't spoil the ending
