Historia
Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it's now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Why does everyone love this book?
Revisado: 05-18-24
Ugh. I kept waiting for this book to get good, and it was just torture. The male narrators voice was so wimpy and whiny. The story dragged on and on, and every emotion got discussed and poked and prodded until I couldn’t have cared less. Really, just totally not my thing.

Ok story, terrible male narrator
Revisado: 01-24-24
OMG, the male narrator’s voice ruins this book. It is ridiculously deep, like a cartoon. It is unfathomable that he was chosen out of anyone else in the world to voice this book. That, combined with some corny dialogue, makes this book a cringe-y listen.

A little boring
Revisado: 10-11-23
Solid narration, but overall just kind of boring. None of the characters were particularly likable or compelling, and nothing very interesting happened. I wanted to give up on this many times, but stuck it through to the end, which is mostly a testament to my persistence.

So good!
Revisado: 07-05-23
This is an amazing audiobook! The story is gripping even if you don’t care about tennis, and the accents and performance brought the book to life. After a few bad choices, this has restored my faith in audiobooks.

Just terrible
Revisado: 06-30-23
There is nothing redeeming about this book. The plot, dialogue, characters— they’re all simplistic and unrealistic. It’s like a book written by a teenager. I’m mad that I stuck with it.

Historia
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Depends…
Revisado: 04-23-22
The male narrator sounds awkward and effeminate, and seems to have poor control of the saliva in his mouth. About 30% of the book is him describing kissing. If all this sounds good, this could be the book for you.

Couldn’t Keep Listening
Revisado: 03-14-22
There is a lot wrong with this one. The audio quality is terrible, for some reason. The story is cliched and boring. The characters are not like able.. Listening to the narrator’s pretend man voice is excruciating, and when she does accents it’s worse. Also, she has clearly read The Hating Game recently, because she recycled lots of the same descriptions, but it wasn’t nearly as clever. I finally couldn’t keep listening.

Not very good
Revisado: 12-17-21
The narrator has a smoker’s voice and a subtle but irritating accent. The pace is painfully slow. The main character’s behavior is idiotic and even though it is entirely predictable, it still made me cringe uncomfortably. Overall, just not good.

Fan Fiction
Revisado: 04-29-21
Ok, so it’s not that I didn’t like this book— It was ok— but it is so obviously fan fiction based on The Hating Game. Same premise (enemies at work), same conflicts (work competitors/secret relationship/petty jealousies), same “getting to know each other” scenes where the cedar-scented hunk thoughtfully holds the narrator’s hair while she vomits. And the male protagonist is the same sensitive, frustrated, restrained man who pines for the perky girl. Even the cover art is a knock-off. The language, vocabulary, plot, dialogue— it’s all a less intelligent, less witty, lower quality version of The Hating Game. It drove me crazy. I hope Sally Thorne is getting a share of the royalties. If you loved The Hating Game, proceed at your own risk.
