Amazing how he was this huge addict yet could show up for work
Revisado: 08-04-24
I liked that he read this himself.
I liked that it gives the very hard cold look into addiction and recovery.
I like that his friends and family never gave up on him.
It’s hard to critique a story like this. I wish none of it had happened.

Historia
Amanda Knox spent four years in a foreign prison for a crime she did not commit. In the fall of 2007, the 20-year-old college coed left Seattle to study abroad in Italy, but her life was shattered when her roommate was murdered in their apartment. After a controversial trial, Amanda was convicted and imprisoned. But in 2011, an appeals court overturned the decision and vacated the murder charge. Free at last, she returned home to the U.S., where she has remained silent, until now.

I hear you, Amanda
Revisado: 11-25-17
First of all, it is horrifying that this happened to an innocent person, but it definitely happens, and also happens far too often in this country.
Her explanation of why she admitted to things that didn’t actually happen is dead on. It is so hard for the average person to understand why a normal, intelligent, honest, well-behaved person would say things that aren’t true when put under police pressure. The tactics the police use are not as effective as they would like to admit. Too many wrongful convictions in the world. Let’s face it, police officers are NOT trained in psychology, and do not have to get a PhD, so why are they in a position to determine if someone is lying or telling the truth?!
Amanda’s story/experience highlight the need for change. This is more than just a memoir. It is an eye opening account of just one of the MANY wrongfully convicted people in the world. You never think it could happen to you, but trust me, it can. And the saddest part is the innocent have nothing to hide, so they put so much trust in a system that fails them to the worst degree.
Overall, the book is written in a compelling manner, easy to follow along despite many names and places. Her reading is very helpful in conveying the emotion. I’m sorry this ever happened to Amanda Knox.

Strong performance; read very well, like she is just chatting with you
Revisado: 06-24-17
Loved the performance. The story was interesting in that I gained insight into what she does and why she does it. I get the "pushing the envelope" as an artist, wether or not I approve of it. There are some really great stories of celebrities, and she does name names. I liked the A to z format. She is clever, intelligent, and lives in a world of blurred lines to begin with, so ofcourse all of us in the land of black and white norms are aghast at some of what she says/does.

Realness and honesty at its finest.
Revisado: 06-24-17
I never would have imagined all she had been through. This book is fantastic. She puts herself out there, and that is commendable. She didn't have to do that. She is brilliant, funny, and strong. I don't think anyone else could have read this on her behalf. She reports on so much controversy that it was as if hearing a report on herself. That must have been so difficult.

A decent story of someone forced into acting as a child, just not worth an entire book.
Revisado: 06-24-17
Parts of this story were good, however it was clearly dragged out into enough words to get a book deal, or edited to omit some really eye opening parts. I appreciate her honesty and willingness to say she did not want to be a long-term actress. I feel like the point was rehashed over and over, and it came off as being bitter about the life she was blessed with. I wanted to recommend this book to a friend, but there is nothing in it to give it enough substance unless you were a fan of hers to begin with. I had no idea who she was.
