I was hooked right from the beginning. I loved Flashforward by Sawyer--and this is like it in reverse--over and over. I loved King's 11 22 63--this compares on a much smaller level. Ken Grimwood has a new fan! Highly recommended.

I purchased Anonymous Sources after listening to The Bullet by Mary Louise Kelly. I thoroughly enjoyed both books. I actually liked Anonymous Sources better--I was constantly surprised--I am now officially a fan and won't hesitate to purchase future books by this author.

Laugh out loud funny for anyone who loves dogs. Started calling my dog Chuck! Merrill Markoe can obviously read puppy minds! I highly recommend. Have suggested this book to many and I have yet to get anything but an enthusiastic two thumbs up

Peter Clines has done it again. The Fold begins as a mystery --moves to a thriller and dances on the edge of horror. As with 14 -this book is difficult to discuss without giving away too much. It had me right away and kept me until the last page. It's not the same experience as was 14-- because I had a better understanding what to expect--the unexpected! I highly recommend.

I understand the instinct to compare to Gone Girl. None of the characters in either novel are likable--not even remotely. Girl on a Train suggests one direction, makes a u-turn, goes on for a bit, takes a right, then jumps the track all together. Paula Hawkins is a force to be reckoned with in this genre.

The characters are so well developed that it is easy to believe the bad decisions they repeatedly make. The cast of characters can best be described as psychopaths. There are serial adulterers, stalkers, alcoholics, enablers, and killers.

It made me wonder what was going on behind closed doors in my neighborhood.

I did not give a five star review because the story lost my attention several times and I had to go back a few chapters and replay. A five star results from a story that makes me hope for a long commute or has me cleaning walls or finishing tedious tasks.

If you are looking for a twisted tale with deeply flawed characters--this is the book for you. If you are looking for a feel-good, everyone lives happily ever after--pass on this one

Until the end of the world reminded me of Forstchen's One Second After. They both take a catastrophic event (EMP pulse and pandemic) and deal with the aftermath in a realistic way. Infrastructure collapses and those who survive must learn how to live in what remains. There are practical characters and self centered ones. It is definitely not a typical zombie novel. Closer to Lucifer's Hammer or Life as we knew it. If you are a fan of this genre you will enjoy this book.

I started this book over at least three times. It grabbed me at the beginning then lost me again until things started to come together. I knew there was a twist but I got impatient. I had some cleaning to do and decided to try it again. I am very glad I did. I had decided I knew where the story was going only to find our how far off base I was. I enjoy a story that is unpredictable and Pines fit the bill nicely. Upon completion I did not hesitate to purchase the next in the series and put several other Crouch novels on my wish list. This is not great literature but it is a wonderful distraction that helped me pass the time and left me wanting to know what else the residents of Wayward Pines would be up against.

I have become a reader/listener of Stephen King again. I had moved away from his books because they became too creepy and outlandish for my taste. He has returned to the days of The Stand and I am loving it. I have read many reviews that dislike this transition because they don't terrify anymore. They are less horror and more thriller! Mr. Mercedes is no different. It is wonderful. It was tense when appropriate and he fleshed out his characters wonderfully. This is right in line with my opinion of Under the Dome but has a more satisfying ending.
This is not 11/22/63 which I feel is his crowning achievement with The Stand being a close second--but it is a headliner in the genre. If you want macabre this is not the book for you. If you want a thriller with a fast pace and an investment in characters I recommend Mr. Mercedes.

Independent Study is better than The Testing!!! A surprise cliffhanger that I did not see coming. Joelle Charbonneau is in on par with Suzanne Collins as far as I am concerned. Elizabeth Morton does not disappoint. I highly recommend this book without reservation.

I found myself searching the web for the references in Dan Brown's Inferno. I always enjoy the reality in his books. The way he takes historical figures and places and intertwines his fiction is never dissappointing. He writes like a conspiracy theorist but adds enough touches of truth that it seems plausible. Inferno is frightening. It made me think about subjects that I had never really considered and the repercussions of the choices people make. I think it is important to keep in mind that this book is fiction--not a conspiracy even if it touches on present day worries. It is engrossing and entertaining but not reality.
