I think the author took on a lot with this story. Women deserve a voice and to be listened to. This story about how women face challenges everyday professionally definitely opened my eyes.
It was a very ambitious undertaking.
I liked how the women supported each other.

Suspenseful and satisfying

This story helps depict the aftermath of war. Both World Wars were catastrophic and the aftermath stretched all throughout several continents!
PTSD wasn't a known thing and yet many people were trying to acclimate back to "normal" life with little help.
I loved the alternating perspectives! The varying accents were done so well!
I was glued to this book! Sad it is over but grateful for the journey!

Great for younger audience (middle school+)

Great twists and turns. Good for fans of Pretty Little Liars.
The voices were very engaging and kept the tension really high!

My Favorite was Nick Offerman's Intro to the Dog

Gripping tale of survival and grit

You really feel connected to the main character and her need to keep her guard up!
She survives so much and lives in such a unique way.
I can imagine a movie depiction of this and it being a breathtaking picture of nature and a young women's love of it.
Heartwarming and enchanting. You will be holding on until the last moments!

A story of allowing yourself to heal

Surviving a tragedy, Eleanor adapted her life to ignore all the sadness.
She was alone.
I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the versatility of McCarren's ability to bounce from accent to accent. Listening to the Scottish accent was a great.
The reason for 4/5 is that it felt a little slow at times. I did love Eleanor's transformation as a character and how the ending was about her and not some cheesy cliche.

Honest and uplifting

A true champion of children, women, and people of all backgrounds, MO is an inspiration to all. From her childhood to her last days in the White House, I was hanging on her every word like it was a novel that I didn't know the ending to.
I am encouraged by her message. This book is empowering but also keeps it very real, much like Michelle.
