This was my first Nora Roberts book and it will be my last. Ending was way too predictable. The narrator was okay, with the exception of the little girl’s voice. Ended up fast forwarding through those bits of dialogue. Also had to fast forward through some of the “beauty parlor” Southern belle banter. As a lifelong Tennessean, I was annoyed that the author, who probably watched Steel Magnolias a few too many times, thought that all Southern women talked like those characters.

There were a couple of main, mystery plot lines in this book. Not wanting to give anything away, I’ll just say that the storylines were a bit boring and I found the conclusions of the storylines predictable and, after plodding along, hastily concluded. Not what I expected from Robert Dugoni.

Looking forward to the next books in the McRyan series! Great plots, interesting characters, and the narrator is wonderful for this series.

I enjoyed the story as much as I could, but kept reminding myself that the main character is a 40 year old tough guy—a government assassin, and not a 65 year old man who was just “reading” the part. I thought the female narrator was okay. Sound effects and ridiculous choice of music totally not necessary; detracted from the story. I’ll read the rest of the Will Robie series for as long as Ron McLarty is narrating.

Halfway through this audiobook, I almost quit listening. I found it boring and slow-paced. I knew this was a series, but didn't think it would matter much that I wasn't familiar with these characters. I figured I'd get into it, but never did. I thought these characters were too one-dimensional. Maybe if I had started the series from the beginning that I'd think differently, but after this book, I'll move on from this author. Storyline: boring; Characters: one-dimensional and weak; Narrator: annoying
