Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Wow!
Revisado: 02-25-23
I thought I loved Viola Davis before I listened to this book, but now I love her in the sense that I know her, because she has completely opened herself up. She is amazing! What an incredible person! Love love love this book and her performance of it. Don’t just read this, hear it in Viola’s own voice. It is transformative.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 02-08-17
Trevor Noah wrote and performed this story of his life. It's probably one of the best I've heard. There are laugh out loud moments, and parts that will bring tears to your eyes. I'd never actually known of him before, but am now a big fan, and set my DVR to record the Daily Show every night. Loved this book!

Historia
When the bookshop next to the Honeybee Bakery hosts a signing for a Savannah radio celebrity's new self-help book, magical baker Katie Lightfoot is happy to provide some delectable desserts. The whole spellbook club is going to the event, curious about the book (and maybe to sample some goodies), but the final chapter comes too soon for the author when she is found dead at the event. The prime suspect is Angie Kissel, a former witch whose familiar was once Katie's own terrier, Mungo.

Fun story, but...
Revisado: 08-29-16
I've listened to all of the stories in this series so far, but do have an issue with one (pretty major) aspect of the murder on which the story is based. The victim was discovered shortly after she died, and was pronounced dead by a fireman/paramedic/first responder, who never even thought to start CPR and call 911. Bailey, really?! You don't have to have a medical background to know that this is very standard procedure, everywhere. The only people who I am aware do not get CPR these days, are those who are hospice patients with a signed DNR, or people who are stone cold with rigor mortis or decay already setting in. That scene was ludicrous to me, but other than that, it's a typical fun read. The reader did her usual good job.

Historia
As a new witch - not to mention owner of Savannah's most enchanting bakery - Katie Lightfoot is still getting used to casting spells, brewing potions, and mastering her magical powers. But that doesn't mean she can't find time to enjoy a picnic with firefighter Declan McCarthy . . . until she stumbles upon a corpse. The dead man's tattoo reveals he was a member of a secret society - and it turns out he's missing an object that was very important to the group.

Fun story
Revisado: 04-06-16
I missed the upbeat energy of Johanna Parker, the reader of Brownies and Broomsticks, but Amy Rubinate did a fine job, with consistent voices for the individual characters. The only issue I really have with her reading quality is the fairly frequent tone that seems either like a "snarky" quality or a "come hither" tone, depending on the situation, and this is not always an appropriate type tone, which got a bit annoying at times. Got past that, and the book is a fun read/listen. Am about to dive into book 3.

Tremendous Experience!
Revisado: 04-03-13
Would you listen to The Storyteller again? Why?
Yes, definitely! The story itself was marvelous, but the performances by the readers were so wonderful, it was such a tremendous experience. I never expected to love this book so much.
What other book might you compare The Storyteller to and why?
It seems unique to me, and maybe that's why I loved it. I can't think of another book like it that I've read.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
They were spot on, and just added so much to the character's personalities. I listen to books while in my car, then pick up where I left off at home with the books on Kindle, and I have to admit that the readers give so much more to the story than when I'm just reading. It's like listening to a movie.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but that would have been a physical impossibility!
Any additional comments?
Just that I really highly recommend it for anyone. The Holocost should never be forgotten, and this book makes it understandable from several perspectives. It's just a great read.
