Historia
When Ada Calhoun found herself in the throes of a midlife crisis, she thought that she had no right to complain. She was married with children and a good career. So why did she feel miserable? And why did it seem that other Generation X women were miserable, too? Calhoun decided to find some answers. She looked into housing costs, HR trends, credit card debt averages, and divorce data. At every turn, she saw a pattern: sandwiched between the Boomers and Millennials, Gen X women were facing new problems as they entered middle age, problems that were being largely overlooked.

Best book ever!!!
Revisado: 01-10-20
I felt like this book was written just for me!! It was like a history lesson on my childhood and helped me remember things I haven't thought about in years. This book explained why I feel the way I do now in my life and helped me feel like I was in good company and not so alone. A must read for any Generation X woman!!

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Very Good
Revisado: 01-02-20
I enjoyed the theatrical additions to the audio book. There may be some mild disdain for white people but not enough to keep from listening.

Revisado: 04-10-19
I loved this book! It felt almost like a story book with self-help rolled all into one. I loved the stories about people's lives and how they worked through things in different ways. This book will make you laugh and cry as well as learn a little more about yourself. I can't recommend this book enough!

Historia
New York Times-best-selling author Ron Powers offers a searching, richly researched narrative of the social history of mental illness in America paired with the deeply personal story of his two sons' battles with schizophrenia. From the centuries of torture of "lunatiks" at Bedlam Asylum to the infamous eugenics era to the follies of the anti-psychiatry movement to the current landscape in which too many families struggle alone to manage afflicted love ones, Powers limns our fears and myths about mental illness and the fractured public policies that have resulted.

This book teaches you how to harness all the negativity in the world and use it to improve your life, taking everyday feelings like self-loathing, regret, and shame and making them work for you. Positive thinking is for assholes. Negative thinking is for winners.

Revisado: 12-27-17
For a self help junkie like myself this book was the opposite of everything I had read before. I was shocked and had to laugh at some of the things in this book and wonder wow maybe I have been thinking wrong this entire time. Keep am open mind and you will love this book.

Historia
For centuries, poets and philosophers extolled the benefits of a walk in the woods: Beethoven drew inspiration from rocks and trees; Wordsworth composed while tromping over the heath; Nikola Tesla conceived the electric motor while visiting a park. Intrigued by our storied renewal in the natural world, Florence Williams sets out to uncover the science behind nature's positive effects on the brain.

Wow what more can I say
Revisado: 09-29-17
I absolutely loved this book! It was not only super informative about how dieting doesn't work but so funny! I loved the FaceBook stories and the woman on a cleanse. I laughed so much.
This book had a lot of information that was quick and easy to listen to. It also didn't have a lot of fluff to get drowned in and glassy eyed.
You won't regret listening to this book no matter your size or dieting beliefs.
