In addition to the centuries of theory there is one big asked but unanswered question: where’s the PDF?
I feel as if I purchased this volume in reliance upon a bait and switch.

Most of this book will be of interest to readers unfamiliar with incidents commonly referred to as World War II.

The narrator promises (repeatedly) that this book will not dwell on the laws of physics past the first chapter. After the third chapter of continuing to hear my high school physics repeated and repeated again, I gave up. No, I mean like none, sci fi here

Warning: plot disclosures herein:
This should have been entitled "The Adventures of John H. Watson, MD With Occasional Assistance by one S. Holmes."
The pastiche is centered on Watson and the faux literary device what may be an authentic recently discovered diary with tantalizing omissions (did Holes really have an affair with the femme fatale?). Holmes' almost seems a second banana here. His personal life and his interaction with Mycroft is touched upon while Watson's married life is gone into ad nauseam with little advancement of the plot and little listener satisfaction to show for it.
And I think Meyer must have thought his trope of constantly interrupting narrative with expository "footnotes" a cute device. If so, he failed. The shift from English with an English accent to English with an American accent, without prior notice, is annoying. It ruins the narrative flow.
With fewer literary bells and whistles, years ago, the 7-1/2% Solution was a more enjoyable read.

I have listened to many stories penned by Conan Doyle. The narration of this one is by far the worst. The narrator speaks without inflection; nor does he make an effort to distinguish among characters. He might as well have been reading from the telephone book. The quality of the narration ruined the story for me.

In spite of a decent reading by M. Waters, what I assume to be a sci-fi take, is a convoluted, stupid story.

I really and truly wanted to like this book. I have long admired Idle and the rest of the troupe for years. However, even as the author admits, this book is one long exercise in name dropping. As you read this book, sit far away for a name just might drop upon you.
The book should have contained more details about the creative interaction among the Pythons, the process it took to put together a groundbreaking humor series and what Idle thinks made it all work. Instead we learn that he was friends with George Harrison and just about everyone else who was in the entertainment industry in Britain and the US between 1969-1980. What a yawn. Your time would be better spent watching old episodes of MP on DVD without Idle's constant jabbering. That would be something completely different.

It is said of many, "He (or she) could make a a reading of the telephone book sound interesting." In Kitchen's case it's true.

A remarkable achievement. There is no aspect of the Sherlockian saga is untouched here. Not only is Conan-Doyle's life examined in minute detail, but also the lives of C-D's children, friends, acquaintances, publishers, as well as assorted heroes, rascals, actors, copiers, poseurs, etc. The tome is best read/heard in small doses since the information download can be overwhelming. Bostrom assumes a reader will want to know all there is to know about anything related to Holmes, not matter how tangential. If this is your interest, this is the book for you. If you don't intend to apply for membership in the Baker Street Irregulars, you may want to stick with the Canon.

Today, more than ever, Franken is needed in the Senate. His is a voice of reason, intelligence and humility.
Purchase the book if only to read/hear his reaction to the results of the November 2016 election.
The fact that Franken recognizes the improbability of his original victory only adds to the excitement of his story. He is a master storyteller who deftly uses humor and irony. This only adds to the enjoyment.
