The story is set in an amazing time of Western change to an Eastern nation with a surprising Supernatural twist woven through a romance of healing. The anime is quite beautiful & emotionally powerful- The novel version helps bring out more of the inner monologue & Understanding of motivation.

Brings to life the time-period and how-to make a living struggles and life trials in a big way. The book does at least end on a brighter note... light in a dark time of history.
