One of the best books I’ve ever read. Liane’s best ever.
Revisado: 11-17-24
It follows the same path of all Liane Moriarty’s books being slow at the beginning. Deep character development. Fantastic writer. I won’t give anything away. Just read it and you won’t be sorry!
It has a renewed angle like “What Alice Forgot” which is another favorite. Thought provoking and perfect.

So energized listening to this book!
Revisado: 08-13-24
Liz Etling’s Dream Big and Win is fantastic. It’s read by the author, and the messages is so down to earth and approachable in spite of it coming from a woman who created a billion dollar company.
I found myself relating to so much of what she shared with growing a business and growing a family. Not to mention, a reassurance that being the odd weirdo out lacking in pop culture, may in fact, be a good indicator of later success.
What I’ve put into place already is EOD reports for my team and I, especially in sales. I am feeling a lot more energized to take the uncomfortable actions that it takes to drive growth. Just track the numbers and do the flipping work! And I already called 13 past clients in one morning with great results. Thank you for reminding me and helping me get back into the make-it-happen mindset. This is the kick in the pants I needed.
What’s also really cool about this book, is this is a woman who’s founded and built a $1 billion company. You could probably find like five women on the planet who’ve done that. Not to mention it’s in the service industry and she’s innovated a business that’s driven by commoditization and technological advances that threaten to wipe them out. I’m inspired!
This is a woman you want to learn from! Thank you for taking the time to write this book. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. The amount of hours you spent to put together a polished book, and then even narrating it when you could’ve been sitting on the beach enjoying your wealth— just shows how much you care about giving back to other people.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Was like a 2x4 across my face
Revisado: 01-14-23
One of the most transformative books I’ve read. Interesting way it was delivered too. I was all like “yes I see this person don’t this…” and it went on and I realized just how much of that I was doing as well. My line of work is helping people see these insights and it was invaluable to help me see as well.

Not my favorite, interesting story, didn’t like the language
Revisado: 11-27-21
Totally dysfunctional family. So relatable though. I think all of us can relate to some parts of the family. Just this was taken to the extreme. Especially the good intentions that appear outwardly as something else.
I love how the author drops seemingly meaningless details all over the first half of the book. Then slowly starts to unravel them and it really heats up about 3/4 of the way in. All of her books are this way. The first 1/3 at least can seem really slow and boring. I’ve just learned to enjoy the wit, and humanity of her writing before figuring out what’s going on.
The best books are before 9 Strangers. My favorite is “What Alice Forgot”. Deeply thought provoking.

At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

A series of characters all destroying each other’s lives
Revisado: 09-26-20
I wanted to like it but didn’t. Each of the main characters just allowed life to happen to them, as they were destructive to each other’s lives. I really felt for Celeste his wife. And Fluffy was an interesting character who developed though out. But all the main characters were static and just sat watching passively as their life went by them.
The only likable characters were the step sisters. And the help. Disappointing story that didn’t seem to go anywhere or have much of a point.

I historically hate fiction and fantasy as well. This book is the BEST book I've read in a long time. I got butterflies whenever I entered my car to listen to the next part. Fantastic writing! Thank you Mr. Cline for taking the time to share your imagination with the rest of us. I really feel privileged.
