Historia
Jadyn St. James hopes that the two-week quiet period in Mudbug means things in the small bayou town are back to normal - whatever that is. But when a fisherman finds a sunken shrimp boat, and the boat captain is missing, Jadyn wonders if the damage to the boat was caused by a storm, or if something far more nefarious happened. Colt Bertrand has been fighting his attraction to the sexy game warden since he first laid eyes on her.

The quaint warehouse district of Hokes Folly, NC, is hopping despite the drizzly November chill. The occasion? The mountain town's beloved antiquarian bookstore, Twice upon a Time, is throwing a bash for its grand reopening. But bookseller Jenna Quinn's peace of mind is shattered when the local library's director of antique books turns up dead in the parking lot - his head bashed in by a glittering pair of vintage glass bookends.

Enjoyable Cozy Mystery
Revisado: 10-12-23
If you love a cozy mystery with just enough original twist, you will probably enjoy this story.
Some of the characters are a little over the top crazy but I think that is part of what makes them interesting.
The narration/performance was enjoyable. My only minor complaint is that I would have liked to hear a little more inflection that might help remind us of the ages and experience of the characters.
I’ll definitely be purchasing the next book in this series.

Scene of the Grind is the first book in USA Today best-selling author Tonya Kappes' new A Killer Coffee Mystery Series. The series takes place in the cozy southern fictional tourist town of Honey Springs, Kentucky. Roxanne Bloom (her friends, though few call her Roxie) quit her job as a lawyer, divorced her cheating husband, and moved to the quaint town of Honey Springs, Kentucky where she'd spent many of her teenage summers visiting her eccentric and fun-loving Aunt Maxi.

Cozy Mysteries - Enjoyable Listen
Revisado: 05-10-23
I love Tonya Kappes cozy mysteries. This set was no exception.
My only complaint is that the change in narrators was a bit jarring. The first and second book have one narrator and then there is a different narrator for the third. It was hard to tell which character was talking after the narrator changed because some of the characters were voiced quite differently in book 3.
I still really enjoyed the books. I would recommend these to anyone who enjoys the campers and criminals series by Tonya Kappes as well as anyone who loves a cozy mystery with all of their small town charm.

Poignant and Beautiful
Revisado: 07-23-22
This book made me feel. I think everyone can relate at least a little bit with the outsider and misunderstood. This story explores loss, coming of age, trust and betrayal, friendship and family and so much more. I’m so very glad that I picked this book up on a whim and I very much recommend it.

Dark Twist to an Old Favorite
Revisado: 08-13-21
I love the way this book really makes you question whether what you assumed is right. I found myself often questioning the motives of characters. I also love how different stories/mythologies are woven together to offer such a cohesive finished work of art. This is a must read if you like fairy tales retold with a dark twist or several.
