Historia
From one of the truly preeminent historians of our time, this is a landmark book chronicling the French Revolution. Simon Schama deftly refutes the contemporary notion that the French Revolution represented an uprising of the oppressed poor against a decadent aristocracy and corrupt court. He argues instead that the revolution was born of a rift among the elite over the speed of progress toward modernity and science, social and economic change.

Audio Recording is Too Compromised
Revisado: 03-16-22
Through no fault of the narrator or author, I cannot recommend this Audiobook. The recording not only cuts out large portions of the book, but also will skip around in places, at times replaying what you've already heard and then skipping far ahead of where you left off.
The subject matter and information being relayed is dense enough that this completely degrades the value to the listener and makes it utterly impossible to follow along unless you have a hard copy of the book and infinite patience, which of course completely defeats the purpose of buying the audiobook in the first place.

unlistenable reading
Revisado: 02-21-22
The narrator of this work is so terrible as to make this unlistenable. I've never had to return a book in nearly a decade of listening, but this was a first.
It may be a very failed attempt at having AI read a book. or possibly the person reading has no idea how to actually speak English, and only knows pronounciation (which also fluctuates wildly). Random pauses in the middle of sentences, complete disregard for punctuation, and emphasizing words at random make it impossible to understand what the author was trying to convey.
The only thing this was good for was playing for my kids so they could laugh at it.

audio problems take away from otherwise great book
Revisado: 11-16-16
This work is fantastic, but there were random periods throughout that were very hard to make out at all. As if a pillow had been placed over the microphone, the narration was quieted and muffled to the point that it was nearly impossible to follow.
Later the sound would correct and be fine for a while before the issues would return.
I loved this work, and the narrator was fantastic, but Audible has no business selling this recording with the issues mentioned above.
