Historia
Del Sol, New Mexico is known for three things: its fry-an-egg-on-the-cement summers, its strong cups of coffee - and, now, a nationwide manhunt? Del Sol native Sunshine Vicram has returned to town as the elected sheriff - thanks to her adorably meddlesome parents who nominated her - and she expects her biggest crime wave to involve an elderly flasher named Doug. But a teenage girl is missing, a kidnapper is on the loose, and all of this is reminding Sunshine why she left Del Sol in the first place.

Historia
Reverend Willie Maxwell was a rural preacher accused of murdering five of his family members for insurance money in the 1970s. With the help of a savvy lawyer, he escaped justice for years until a relative shot him dead at the funeral of his last victim. Despite hundreds of witnesses, Maxwell's murderer was acquitted—thanks to the same attorney who had previously defended the reverend. Casey Cep brings this story to life, from the shocking murders to the courtroom drama to the racial politics of the Deep South.

Historia
In a sprawling mansion filled with peculiar treasures, January Scaller is a curiosity herself. As the ward of the wealthy Mr. Locke, she feels little different from the artifacts that decorate the halls: carefully maintained, largely ignored, and utterly out of place. Then she finds a strange book. A book that carries the scent of other worlds and tells a tale of secret doors, of love, adventure, and danger. Each page turn reveals impossible truths about the world, and January discovers a story increasingly entwined with her own.

Hope there is a sequel!
Revisado: 04-11-19
Disclaimer: I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Overall, I enjoyed the tale of "The Firebird". Nerine Dorman's story is dark and fantastical with a moral dilemma placed on the shoulders of the lead character. This is an excellent book for fairy tale fans. I was never sure until nearly the end which direction the story would turn. I was not, however, completely satisfied with the resolution. I felt like I was left waiting for the next book to come out. If there turns out to be a sequel, I will happily continue this series.
The narration of "The Firebird" was superb. Kara Kovacich Stewart's sensitive portrayal of the characters immediately drew me to them, even when I wasn't sure that I liked them. Again, I hope there is a sequel.
